Being offered to swap for a 1601-4

Hi everyone,

I'm being offered to trade my 16264 Turn-o-graph (blue dial, roman markers) for a 1601-4 DJ. According to the owner it has been recently serviced by RSC.

I've been looking for a nice DJ to replace my DJ TOG and was wondering if anyone could pitch in with regards to the 1601-4, as I know so little about it. As I understand it it's a vintage piece but that's all I know. The owner has no box or papers but has the Rolex service receipt and I'm going to look at it in a few days. He says it's a 70's model but doesn't know the exact year??? Is it possible for me to find it out by the serial?

Any tips, opinions, suggestions, advice? Any 1601-4 owners out there? How does it compare with the modern 36mm DJs?

Any input would be much appreciated.

Thanks!

Well myself would keep what you got your 16264, while the 1970s 1601 has a fine movement in the cal 1575.Just cannot see any point in a swap for a 1601 DJ they are quite a common production watch with quite a long run.And no vintage 1601 is not considered as a collectible watch. The 1601 started life back in 1959 with the cal1565 and was in production till around 1976 now with the cal1575.

Thanks for the advice. Would you consider the 16264 more "collectible" than the 1601? Just your opinion...
