Big chunk of German steel - UTS 1000m V2
I was pretty happy with my small collection of time pieces, until I made the mistake of hanging out on the WUS dive forum and realised that my life was not complete without a rugged tool diver for all of that diving that I don't do
There was plenty of choice among the smaller brands/microbrews and I had a good look pieces from Sinn, Stowa, Zinex etc before finally settling on the UTS. UTS watches are designed and engineered by Nicolaus Spinner in Munich, Germany. Nicolaus CNC machines his own cases and assembles the watches in house. This is almost unique among the boutique brands operating at this price point and a great selling point for me. And the watch itself, at 43mm in diameter and 14.5mm in thickness, its a fairly substantial piece. Inside is a ETA2824-2 top grade movement, adjusted in 5 positions by Herr Spinner and is depth rated to 1000m. Unpacking it from its pelican case, I was a little apprehensive. Despite slavishly collecting every picture on the net, I had to purchase this one sight unseen. Its my largest watch so far and I also wasn't sure how those rather unique looking lugs would work out in real life. Turns out that its a stunner in the flesh. I just love the industrial looks and it goes just great with the havanna Toshi that I had knocking around. Have a great Xmas! |
