Icon5 Buying from a non-Authorized Dealer

What perils could I be facing buying from a non-Authorized Dealer?

This is a major, single-location watch retailer which is well respected in the community, but is not a Rolex AD. I 100% trust them to get me a brand new genuine Rolex, just like I would get from an AD, with all the papers and warranty.

Am I looking at any issues down the road?

Thanks in advance.

if you 100% trust them I'm not sure what your question is asking

I thought the start date of the warranty card has to be signed by an AD in order for it to be valid?

This is the kind of thing that I'm worried about, although I expect that this shop sells quite a few Rolexes, and probably has that covered.

Can Rolex deny the warranty on a watch that wasn't purchased directly from an AD?

They can deny the warranty, but you probally won't need it.

All Rolex watches go through ADs and only ADs. So it has to have been sold/purchased through one to show up at a non-AD store. So there can't be a "denial". Just be sure you get the dated card and know the original date prior to purchase to know how much warranty is left. The name on the card could be an issue for warranty.

check to see if the dealer will be getting you a stamped card, chances are you will not need it and the saving maybe worth the risk?

Yeah, the odds of something going bad in 2 years is pretty slim. I know this store will stand behind it.

Most store will give you their warranty, so just find out. Rolex warranty only give you 2 years, which is very slim chance for your watch to be "broken" in that time period.

The only place you can get a valid Rolex backed warranty is from an Authorised Dealer....

Is the Rolex warranty transferable?

there have been a few threads on this but generally the warranty is not transferable.

some disagree but from speaking with rsc in nyc they say it's NOT transferable.

The warranty is nice, but it doesn't get used very often. If you trust this seller and the price is better than you think you'll get at an AD, I wouldn't worry much. I'd feel pretty good if they offer their own warranty in place of the Rolex warranty, too. It's especially nice if they do their own repairs.

For peace of mind, do not pay in cash no matter what kind of cash discount the non-AD gives you. Pay with credit card preferrably American Express. Amex has your back if the deal turns sour from the get go.
