Is this vintage Milgauss correct?

http://cgi.ebay.com/Rolex-Milgauss-R...item45f7df6427

Is this auction suspicious?
I find the case a bit thick.
In addition, 7 bidders retracted ("entered wrong amount"!!!)
This watch sells for above $60'000 and is so hard to find.
Why would someone sell it at no reserve?

You bring up a valid point. The case does not look as if it is old. The " scratches " and " dings " in the case look suspect as well. Its as if they were done intentionally. The rest of the watch looks good to me.

Rarely ever see these watches go out to bid. It is however an amazing piece.

It will be interesting to watch this auction.

I'm not worried about the cheap fakes that are sold on Ebay or elsewhere.
They are "easy" to identify and thanks to advices on this forum one can spot the differences.
I'm worried about the high end quality ones that are made and so difficult to identify.

This particular Milgauss watch is very similar to another auction on Ebay and that was identify on this forum.
http://www.rolexforums.com/showthrea...=5510+watchout

The patina, the scratches, everything looks similar.

It is so easy to fool people:
You chose a very rare Rolex model that is extremely difficult to find.
You then buy a fake case and you add real vintage Rolex spare parts.
The overall result looks very real.

I'm very concerned that this practice will continue on and on, as people have an incentive to do it. It is easier to sell one fake at $30'000 rather than 300 at $100!
With the rise of the middle classes in Asia, especially in China, the demand for vintage watches will increase dramatically (it is already the case). The production of fakes will follow the same pattern. What is going to happen when so many fake quality vintage watches will flood the vintage market? I'm sure this will kill the market and no one will want to buy vintage watches!

This auction might be removed from Ebay, but the people behind it will continue...

Thanks to this forum and the people how are active, we must all continue to stop this practice. Lets continue the fight!
