i like Panerai because of its unique design and past association with Rolex. the ability to change straps makes the watch customisable to reflect the owner's personality without comprising the original unique face appearance.

I really am starting to like Panerai because of their association with Rolex in the past. I need a watch that looks right on a leather strap. I see a PAM in my future. I am thinking of the PAM 0048 for a start.

I didn't much care for a Panerai when I first saw them. The size of their dials was a bit much for me. However I slowly gaining an appreciation for this brand, and I am seriously considering adding one to my wish list.

Very nice! Thanks for this.
I'm drawn to PAM by the clean, classic lines.....and the straps! I don't know anyone who owns one, but the online community is pretty cool and all the Paneristi events seem great. There seems to be a lot of PAM passion out there, which I like. |

I like the unique looks of Panerai, and of course the straps.
I love both of my PAMs equally.

addicted to PAMs
Though I probably won't win (as I never do), I love my PAMs for they are a classic work of art, simple yet so timeless in design. My current favorite is the PAM 372 and 382. Have them on order and can't wait to strap them on my wrist.
Here is a pic of the PAM 382 Bronze.

A little more information on the Runner-Up Strap
First of all, thanks to Steve and TRF for tailoring a give away activity to the PAM (and Breitling, and Omega) lovers. A runner up prize to the Panerai book (and that is one EXTRAORDINARY book) is a lightly worn Heroic 18 Poseidon Italian Natural Tan leather strap. 24mm width, standard length with polished pre-V style tang buckle. The strap comes with the suede storage pouch and original packaging. There is some light wear at one pin hole as shown in last photographs. Tubes are included with all H18 straps.
Note that the first photo in the series was taken when the strap was first received. The blue protective sticker is unfortunately long gone. Everybody with a PAM knows that you just can't have too many straps.... |

The history and uniqueness of the brand caught my eye.
The 233 has to be my utmost favorite modern PAM. The watch provides the modern tool features (gmt, sapphire crystal, etc...) yet maintains its DNA (1950 case, domed crystal, manual wind). |

Steve another very generous gesture: Thankyou again.
I like Panerais because many many people (including me!) simply don't "get" the whole Panerai thing until they've tried them on but once they do...... Oh Boy!! I also like the whole 'strap culture' thing that lets you personalise your watch the way you want it. My (current) favourite Pan's the 111..... Love the display caseback & the movement & tremendous bang-for-buck IMO. (APOLOGIES: NOT MY PIC': DOWNLOADED FROM GOOGLE SO NOT SURE WHO TO CREDIT)

Great stuff Steve, Chris and all involved!
Panerai are the only 'bigger' watch I like..they do it so well. The dials (sandwich) are stunning. They are elegant - with strap changes can be made to fit any mood and occasion easily. Wonderful design..incredibly comfortable...and a little outside the box!

What can I say? I thought I didn't like these watches in the beginning. I was a Rolex man. I was going to the AD to buy a white expy II. Tried it on and was let down. It looked sooooo good in pics here on TRF and I just didn't get excited when I put it on. Then my AD made (yes he made me) try on a PAM 51 (40mm white dial). I didn't want to try it on. I saw so many pics online of Panerai and I just didn't get it. They looked so blah! Then I put the 51 on my wrist! WOW! I was soooo close to buying it that day, but I got a 2c that day instead and ironically, just sold it yesterday. Maybe I have some money to get some another Panerai????
I love the strap versatility. These cases were made for straps. The lugs gracefully accept the straps and leave little white space in-between. So watches with sharp lugs leave much white space and I'm not a fan (think of IWC 7 day port and look at the lugs). And, now....I'm an addict. Can't get enough Panerai, but I can't decide what to get either! So many nice ones. I love posting these pics, so here are some shots just because I like 'em. And thanks Steve! Fingers crossed on this book. I love it!

Many thanks for the opportunity to show our love for the brand. I've tried a number of different styles of PAM's and have settled on the two I have left. To me, these watches are about the camaraderie (more so than any horological significance). It's the bespoke nature of watches/straps that speaks to me as it says things about their owners and the brand's following.

My AD gave me a copy of that book. It's a fantastic reference not only for the pictures, but the amazing history of the brand. Someone is going to be very lucky.
