Serious problem with Deepsea & Daytona

I really have a problem .. Karma ?
Currently I have a Deepsea , that I bought second hand earlier this month and a SS Daytona ( being serviced at this time ) .
I love both of them and I had been breaking my back over 6 months to get a Deepsea again after I sold my first one 18 months ago .

This weekend I met up with some friends and someone I had never met before was sporting a huge Blancpain 50 fathoms . I mean .. I must have come across as a total idiot as I just gazed at it for hours . I of course complemented him on it but felt it would have been a bit out of place to ask him if I could try it on . He never suggested , the twat !

The watch is just amazing : looks like a blue sub and Daytona combined with a month and lunar fase thrown in . Larger then my Deepsea but less bulky .

It was still on my mind the next day , but being busy yesterday the image was fading till today I had to pick up some bloody watch magazine and open the page up to the exact same watch .

I couldn't be bothered to buy the magazine so I just took a picture with my phone . How tight can you get and I'm not even Scottish Sorry Scots especially the grumpy ones

I'm really thinking to go and try this watch on and if I still like it I will have to sell both my Deepsea and SS Daytona to finance it . I believe they are RRP about 15K GPB in London .

Should I ?

I had the same thought about getting one of those last year while on business in Dubai...the AD offered me a 30% discount without negotiation. Also, keep in mind that as soon as you leave Blancpain your watch will be worth LESS...period....which is the oppisite from you Rolexes.

If you like it, get one, but DO NOT sell your Rolexes to finance it.....try to negotiate with an AD...those things don't move as quick as Rolex...also check out Mosco here on the forum....he's got some amazing Non-Rolex connections from what I've seen on the 'For Sale' board.

Good luck and DO NOT, REPEAT, DO NOT sell your beloved Daytona and DSSD!!

I don't think I will do that , but at this moment I really can't afford such a purchase (even with 30% off ) out of my savings .
I must admit that I have had such a " coup de coeur " for a watch in a very long time .

Well, you may be a bit harsh on your friends' friend . But regardless, I really like the non-chrono version of the FF, especially on the rubber strap option. It is bigger than the sub, but smaller than the chrono version. I don't have a large wrist and am generally not a fan of large watches, but I love the presence and fit of the FF. The sapphire bezel and overall lume are really nice attributes as well.

So you first sold your DSSD and regretted it so much that you've spent w ton of time looking for another DSSD. And now you want to sell it to finance that big, ugly thing?

I know you are absolutely right , but I tell you this : Were it not that my VISA card doesn't allow me to pull that amount through I could very well have walked out of Watches of Switzerland with the thing on my wrist this Saturday . Guess that is about the only advantage of having been "blacklisted " with the bank a couple of years back

I wouldn't sell those two Rolexes to fund a Blancpain (any Blancpain). However, if I had the wrist to pull it off, I would save up and buy a non-chrono Blancpain Fifty Fathoms, perhaps the Tribute model:



For me a dive watch with a lot of complications just doesn't make any sense, sorry. A dress watch with complications would be nice, but then I wouldn't shop around Blancpain, but walk over to Patek.

I think the non-chrono Fifty Fathoms is a good compromise...it'd cost about the same as a Deepsea I think.

The FF is great looking diver with an impressive history. Even at 45mm it should wear smaller than the DSSD because it's much less tall. What I didn't like was the narrow, relatively cheap feeling, sailcloth strap. The head felt too large for the strap and that may affect comfort.

I would sell the DSSD and get the Non-Chrono 50 Fathom. That thing is super clean kinda like a 14060M! Less is more! But dont get rid of the Daytona; an ICON which is often replicated but never duplicated. Though I must add I love the look of that moon! Too cool!

No way!!!! That Blancpain is a disaster - I'm never one to complain about dial legibility, but I cannot see anything on that dial. You've got two amazing watches in DeepSea and Daytona - don't get rid of them for that watch...

It would not be an intelligent move , but having said that I have never been very intelligent . I will go and have a good look at it and see what it does for me on MY wrist . If I still like it enough , a couple of people have recommended Greg " spetsnaz " Mosco to me , so maybe ... just maybe I will ask him if he can find me one at 60% off RRP

Whatever happens I will NOT sell the Deepsea nor the Daytona for it . I know I will regret it eventually .

We may not have the same nationality however , I do not because of genetical influences but purely for economical ones do not want things faster but ......like you ..... I want them cheaper .

I've always been a fan of blancpain divers. I prefer a vintage model as the new ones are too big for my wrist. Plenty of history behind the watch, if you try it on and love it I say sell the DRSD and buy it! But keep the daytona! Also I think the non chrono is the way to go, plus it looks more like the classic. Good luck.

Bob , Let me reassure you . I will NOT sell any Rolex watch for that Blancpain .
If I decide to buy the Blancpain I will find another way to pay for it ... in about 2 years at my current " savings " rate
