000 and 005 is hard to find in most Ad's.. i know as soon as my Ad gets a 000 or a 005 in stock, they sell before they hit the display.

most of the time but not always the panerai boutique's will have one in stock. i had to order mine from NY panerai boutique and it worked out because they free overnight shipped it, and i saved on tax. only way to go in my book.

i love the 005 and 000, historic to the bone, solid case backs on them i love, makes them a bit more rugged IMO. the movements in the 000 and 005 are different than most base models with exhibition backs, the 00 and 005 do not have swan neck regulators and are not as pretty as the ones being displayed on say a 111. plus i love the painted dials only on the 44mm luminor cased pams.

other models i prefer sandwich dials.

They do go quick, but it is very reasonable to get one from an AD. If you work with them, they'll get you one or just call the Boutiques, but be prepared to pay full price.

It is as good yes. it's a work horse movement in the 005 000...

it's just not made up to look so pretty as the movements seen in a 111 because the 005 000 have solid casebacks, panerai didnt decorate the movements that much because they can't bee seen.

swan neck regulators provide simple and easy way to adjust the movements timing where’s the 000 or 005 for instance that don't have them require a special tool to adjust the speed of the balance wheel. plus the bridge of the 005 000 is not as decorated as a 111 base pam with open back. the pam 111 bridge is also seperated in to a couple parts which make more of a fancy look and the 000/005 have one solid bridge.

that explains why the 005 is a little less exspensive than a 111, has a couple less features but in the end, pretty much the same watch.

the 005 and 000 are more popular because not only are they lower in production than other base models, but they also contain the sought after panerai logo painted on the dial.

the 000 and 005 are the only models panerai makes to this day that are modeled after the pre vendome panerai models. The rest of the base models all have more of a modern twist to them.

i love pre vendome panerai's so the 005 was a must have for me. i actually flipped my 111 and bought the 005.

Exactly, they're kind of like SS daytonas, just PAM000's don't cost as much and aren't quite as rare, there's a lot on the grey market though

I love Panerai...don't misunderstand, but I feel the logo is just a little 'much'. Just like the PIG dial...

I think the logo on the 005 makes the dial a little cluttered and unbalanced, but on the zero I think it looks nice. Both nice watches nonetheless and yes - quite sort after.

Tempting. I would like to see the 380 first. The 380 looks a little too busy from the pic, but who knows i am a sucker for logo. I would hope to own the grand daddy of all logo 5218-201A.

I bought my 000 a few months ago. Took a little bit of searching but I wouldn't say it was too difficult.

IMO, the 005 is too cluttered compared to the 000. However, I'm thinking about selling my 000 to pick up a 416.....Decisions Decisions

I tried on one at the NYC boutique today. 4400.00. Like the idea of overnight
tax free. Might just wait until Fall and buy one in Florance.
Any body have an Idea what they go for in Euro's?

IMO - the 000 look the best on OEM black croc with White stitching strap.

Love it.

I think they both look good, but personally think the face without the logo is cleaner.

For those who are writing off the logo thinking it ruins the dial and making it unclean should find time to see the watch. I wanted a pam 111 because of the display case. Saw both pam 111 and 0 next to each other and my mind was made instantly. Logo do doubt.
