Real vintage, 1936 Tudor
This watch turned up in a box of soon to be discarded material from my father in laws estate. It is a Tudor made by the RWC Ltd and given by Mum to Dad in 1936. Lucky I checked the box one more time before I dumped it.
The question is I am looking for someone in the Sydney Area (Australia) that I can trust to have a look at the movement and service it, I would like to pass it on to my son. I would like to pretty much preserve it in its current condition although the face is in pretty poor shape . I gather he wore it as an everyday watch for many years. I will make a decision about the face when I get the movement sorted. If you can suggest someone please let me know. |

PM me and I can email you a few leads.
1930's Tudors are really cool - and you need to be sure who works on them. :-) Interestingly they all show up in commonwealth countries. Canada and Oz predominantly. I guess Wilsdorf started to market them in those areas. Cheers Morgan |

Watch Repair
Since the watch is not worth mega money I would not suggest you use any of the upmarket repairers in the city who charge $450 plus GST for a service.
I would try Alex at, Prestige Watch Repairs, Sydney Level 10, 250 Pitt St Sydney, NSW 2000 Tel: 02 9283 6878 I use him for most of my run of the mill watches. He has serviced several of the Tudors like you have. |

Honestly, the "face" (dial) of the watch looks pretty decent. The hands need a relume or have the lume removed and the crystal either needs to be replaced or at least polished. However, the dial seems to be in reasonable shape

I think Adrian was posting a photo of his own Tudor, not that of the O.P.
I think his would look even better after a 1 minute polish of the crystal!

1936 Tudor
Yes Adem you are correct that image is Adrians, My old girl is the rectangle shape sililar to the Prince Style. If the image I attached works you can see the condition of the face.

Can this watch be restored?
The watch that oinkitt posted looks nice. I'd like to purchase a vintage rolex, but sometimes they're in that kind of shape. Do you think it could be restored? If the case is polished, will the gold wear away, or are these usually solid gold? What else do you think would be needed? How much could a full restoration cost? Thanks.
