My Rolex's sure do love their baths...
Since it's getting warm in this part of the world, I tend to perspire which leads to bathing my Rolex's more often. In doing so! I found that they have a much more healthier look about them, so much so that I compared mine to a new one at the AD's yesterday, and found mine looked better in luster and shinyness. I quess Rolex really know how to formulate their stainless steel.

Are you using soap? If so, what kind? I'm wondering about dish washing liquid. Is it too harsh? How about car wash soap? Baby shampoo?

Try using shower gel with a toothbrush. That's what I've found to work the best.

Just dont do it in the shower and let it slip out of your hands and hit the tub like I did. Clean is one thing, 5 weeks at the RSC for regulation is a whole other thing. Slippery little basta*d.

with dish liquid????? Are you crazy? It includes lots of solvents and the solvent will take all the shining of the steel and gold. JUST use hair shampoo I always use hair shampoo that doesnt include any solvent or acid. Even car shampoo is better than dish soap but do not use any soap or dish soap, hair shampoo is the best and will give lots of shining and will never scratch the soft gold if you dont use brush, just wash it with your hand or with a cotton.

Avoid dish washing liquid, David. Just the same soap you use to wash your face with....if it works on your face, it should work on a Rolex!!

I use Dawn dishwashing detergent, it removes grease and rinses clean with no residue. If you eat food off the plate you wash, it definitely will not harm a well made Stainless steel or Gold Rolex.

Whoops I don't think my post worked, if this is a repeat please forgive me
I simply shower in mine daily, no exotic soaps or shampoos, just whatever we have. They are tough watches designed for harsh enviroments. I have a 5513 which My uncle used his as a work watch, my dad used it as a work watch (22 years in a sawmill) I wore it surfing and at school with a velcro band and I'm sure my uncle and dad never worried about what soap to use. still looks great As Nike would say "JUST WEAR IT" |

Dishwashing soap is fine. HAND diswashing soap, not automatic diswashing detergents like Electrosol, Cascade, etc. There's a big difference in the two types. Baby shampoo is fine if your worried about stinging your little cyclops eye.

It will harm cause it contains solvents to take the dirtiness in your plate and first it will give shining but then it will take all shinning, if you really want it to shine alot, you can wash with Car shampoo that contains wax it will make your ROlex to be so soft on your arm and shine like a star and a mirror under sun light, I use sometimes hair shampoo and sometimes car shampoo that includes wax to my Tissot and it's like brand new since 2 years.
