Am I nuts for lusting after a 16758 or 16808?

Who in their right mind wear 18K vintage on a sport watch? But particularly that brown nipple dial GMT 16758 has something je-ne-sais-quoi to it that I find very tempting!?

Luckily they are rather hard to find in great condition with box/papers so I guess I won't be stumbling over one anytime soon...

Anyone has either and photos to share?

Cheers,

Patrick

Hello Patrick!!
YouŽre not out of your mind! Both references are my grail watches, and IŽm looking forward to find one down here someday. They are not so common here as in the USA I guess, but something will arrive sooner or later.

The full gold GMT with brown dial and nipple indexes, and the Sub with black dial, also with nipple indexes is what I like best. If they come with a riveted gold bracelet, IŽll feel in heaven.

In the meantime, I hope our friends here at TRF will show some nice specimens, just to look at while I wait for my good luck!

Best cordial regards, Abel.

You have great taste, Patrick. A gold 16808 with black nipple dial is HIGH on my list. :D

They are actually a good deal as they are less expensive than the plastic crystal models. I have had both and personally I like plastic but you cant go wrong with sapphire and nipples either. Rootbeer GMT on a brown strap looks great also

Go for the nipples Patrick!! My 16753 is the pick of my litter. Line my 7 fav's up to show to someone, and it's the first one to be picked up and admired.

Nice watch. In my opinion, yellow gold is cheesy. however, with the brown dial, its so over the top that it becomes a piece of Art. Harry

That is the one that has been on my mind!! I really have been searching for a true untouched 1680 though with original bezel insert and bracelet and purple faded dial. Not easy--most for sale have insert changed.

I know man, the ones that fade in a starburst pattern blue -> purple -> orange -> yellow are just stunning. That's the one high end piece I'd actually buy.

Mind you, a mint example wouldn't be bad:

Or some porcelain...
