3700.00 mistake
I imagine some folks here have shared in what I'm going through now. I fell in love with the Breitling Chronospace on the mesh strap. I looked at every picture and visited malls seeking a model to see in person (to no avail). I studied every detail online. The watch exceeds my expectations as far as functionality and form. Quality is Breitling perfect. I use the alarms and the countdown timer daily and the GMT weekly. When I ordered it I knew it would be the largest watch in my collection. I convinced myself I could wear such a large watch. I was wrong. After a month it's ridiculously huge. I'd be lucky after six months of trying to sell it to get half what I have in it. So I'm just stuck with it. A 3700.00 mistake. If this watch was just three or four mm smaller it would be by far my favorite piece right now. Why did Breitling make the damn thing so big? That aside it is also the most accurate watch I have ever owned. I set it a month ago and I can't discern a gain or loss in time. If there is one, it can't be seen by the human eye. To bad I look like puff daddy wearing it.

sorry to hear this...i too have convinced myself that i can wear larger watches. no more...if it is over 41mm and 12mm thick, i run for the hills. I prefer the 36mm size.
good luck...i hope you recoup as much as possible. maybe via trade... |

hey i went through the same thing a while back. i had a bentley motors t and a super avenger. These are HUGE watches for a guy with a 7 inch wrist. sadly i just had to dump them and get pieces that were more practical for me. I learned a huge lesson, basically nothing over 44mm for me ever again. and at that it really depends on how the lugs site with the case.
dont worry too much about it, i am sure you and i are not the only people this has happend to. |

Ok I took a picture with my phone. I took the mesh off and put a croc strap on it Fri to see if it would wear nicer. Like I said I'll try to post a nicer pic later.

please allow me to say that it does not look THAT bad...given all the poisitive things that are going for you, like the exceptional functionality and performance plus the good looks of the watch, I really think it works for you on the croc given the modern fashions..I say keep it and enjoy..its fashionable, functional and really quiet acceptable in the pic IMHO

Honestly it looks good, you should keep it and rotate it with other watches.

The proportions look fine. It's just not a small watch.
Keep in mind that most Rolex models are considered to be smaller watches these days. |

It does not look bad to be honest but you have to wear what makes you feel comfortable.

Looks good on wrist, you are not used to the weight. I had a breitling B2 and that was lightweight to my YMII YG. You will get used it I hope with more wear.

It doesn`t look that bad at all. It`s simply a big watch, and all you have to do is to try to get used to it. While I`m not die-hard fan of large watches, I think that Chronospace looks awesome and, which is more important, looks very good on your wrist.
An if you simply cannot stand it, maybe you should go to AD where you bought it and try to do some flipping for Aerospace...I don`t know if it`s possible, but I would give it a try. Honestly, if I were you, I would relax and enjoy that great timepiece!

Thanks for the words of encouragement. It does make me feel a little better having some second opinions.

Try wearing it a bit higher on your wrist, and it will look and fit better.
Nice watch. If you give it a couple more months and still don't like it, start looking at other options. If you start looking now, you'll sell for sure.

Maybe you guys can help me with a question. I don't usually sell watches I keep them in my collection. If I were to put the Chronospace for sale; what should I ask for it. It has the mesh bracelet and a $70.00 croc strap I'd just throw in. I paid 3700.00 for the watch new a month ago. I'm aware I wouldn't get close to that but what do you guys think a fair ask would be?

A Breitling should be bought at 30% off MSRP so then getting 50% at sale isn't the end of the world.
I thought that watch would be cool as well, but 48mm is just not my cup of tea, and the 9 & 3 fonts are too large as well IMO. Look at it like this, we all make mistakes. Who cares if you take a $2-3K hit on it in the long run. No one got hurt. You learned something. If you are not happy, sell the darn thing and move one. |

To OP, I don't think the watch looks too big on your wrist. But I do think the 3 and 9 look a little over-the-top.

I have to say that I don't like big watches at all. 40-42mm is tops for me...BUT I looked at the picture and the watch looks fine on your wrist! That was the first thing I thought was "wow..looks good to me"...

I agree W/ Dr. Brian. But it still looks good the way you're wearing it. Give it time to see if you get used to it. I thought the same thing about my BO1 initially, but now I wouldn't sell it for the world!
