Rolex precision

does any one still own or wear them out in public? I have one and it recently got serviced at a RSC (handed down the family). It looks great with a brand new osyter band, bezel and dial. It looks brand spanking new. But somehow (don't know where i got it from)i get this impression that people who do wear a rolex precision are people who can't afford to get a "real rolex" but want a rolex (sorry if i insulted anyone, was not my intention).

Am i just paranoid?

Wear it in good faith dude!

It is a Rolex and it keeps good time.

I saw a pre-own piece in good condition. I didn't buy it cos I was aiming for a GMT at that time.

Thanks, but that's what came to my mind.

Besides, there are a lot of expensive Precision watches around, e.g. the Prince. I will take that any day over an auto.

Ohlins, I saw the black version of your piece on sale at a pre-own shop just 2 months back. Going at SGD 2.5 grand with no cert. Good exterior condition. I still think the price is not good enough. What do you think?

But a Rolex Precision is a real Rolex and why not wear it.And wearing the most expensive watch in the world don't make anyone better,just the fact of being able to afford it.And yes it seems to me that you are a bit paranoid wear that family heirloom with pride.

It comes with date. At that price, I can get a pre-own Planet Ocean in good condition that is still on warranty.
This just goes to show the value of Rolex in the Asian market.

We are talking about the Date at the other thread. I saw a pre-own piece, also in good condition with no papers and box going at USD 2 grand. It is a blue dial with sticks as indices. Nice.

And that shop which i frequent priced their pieces more reasonably.

Ironically, my first Rolex was a SS date Precision which I bought in Hong Kong in 1981 from a pawn shop for $150 US. Then two days later, at another pawn shop, I found a SS NO date Precision for which I paid $100. I kept those two watches for almost 24 years before trading them in for a TT Datejust with a Royal blue dial, fluted bezel.

I bought a couple of vintage Rolexes from Time Antique aka Monster Time. One was good and the other wasn't. The latter kept stopping and my watchmaker was unable to get it fixed. Fortunately, I was able to sell it to someone for the same price I paid. Singapore sellers are usually very honest and up front.

if it's a 6694.....2.5k is way too high.....1.5 to 1.7k is more reasonable...:)

A Rolex is a Rolex is a Rolex who cares if it says Precision or chronometer on the dial. Or, for that matter, Rolex or Seiko on the dial. As long as it makes you smile, that all that counts. My Grandfather wore a precision for years. I wore one too and loved it. Wear it with pride

You could compare the 6694 to the Ferrari 308 GT4. Many consider it to be entry level exotic but STILL Exotic!

hmmm it depends......a rolex date is quite a generic term cos it could mean a 1500, 15000 or even 15200 and many more......

so you need to check out the model number and its vintage.....cant comment whether 3k is alright just by knowing it's a rolex date....

Are Oysterdate Precisions only in 34mm or are there models which are 36mm? I prefer the 36mm size (such as the Datejust), but appreciate the look (and some of the prices!) of the vintage Oysterdate Precisions.

The thread's from the 11th. of June, and since you have not posted much I guess you might not be so active here any longer?

I just thought it would be nice with a PIC of that "Precision" you have.

Maybe you could have use for description on how to post pics?


1) Go to www.photobucket.com and create an account (it's FREE!)
2) Upload the pic to photobucket from your PC
3) When it's uploaded, copy the IMG code (BOTTOM bar under the photo in photobucket - there are four bars, but you'd wanna use the LAST bar - see my arrow on the Print Screen underneath). You copy the IMG code by simply clicking on the bar:



4) You then note that photobucket tells you "copied".
5) Then go to rolexforums and start your post.
6) In your post, press the "Add picture" button and a prompt pops up with http://. Delete that http:// and press CTRL + V (now that address of the photo - the "IMG tag" - is inserted in the prompt you got.
7) Then DELETE the last and first [IMG] to get rid of "IMG" standing before and after your photo when you post it. (not important, but just looks better).

Or you can skip # 6 & 7 and just rightclick in your post and choose "paste"...........BINGO your photo will be there as soon as you press Submit reply.

IMPORTANT: DO NOT DELETE THE PICTURE FROM PHOTOBUCKET (OR ANY SERVER YOU USE) SINCE DELETING IT THERE WOULD ALSO DELETE IT HERE ON TRF! (RED CROSS INSTEAD OF PIC).

I recently inherited 2 Precision black. Brought them to 2nd hand dealer and he is offering me around SGD800. He also carried a couple and asking for SGD1400. He also has source for red face and yellow face Precision with same color stripe and asking around SGD2k. Was told that those were Japan model. Very sporty for lady. My wife actually order the red color Precision and was told to wait for 2 months.
BTW, my dad got the 2 watch around SGD200 about 20 years ago from some gambling friends. Price appreciate about 4 times over 20 years.

One of the coolest things in THE WORLD is to wear a heirloom, and the even COOLER thing is to have that heirloom a Rolex. It has a story and sentimental value, no GMT or Daytona can top that. Wear it proud and were it everyday. If you feel compelled to upgrade to a more modern model, go for it, but NEVER trade or sell that heirloom.

I personally have 105 years of heirlooms and I love to tell the stories behind them. I have a few threads on the TRF too about said heirlooms.

Just read the post about Rolex Precision.

Mine is 1939-1940. One of the very first with a sweep second hand in 18k gold. I have posted the pictures of it recently but here they are again.

This was inherited from my father with several other solid gold watches. He had great taste and of course there is a history to go with each of them.

They are mostly dress watches and for every day use. I have just had it serviced by an excellent watchmaker and restored to original condition. Of course RSC will not consider working on it other than to clean it. But there are very good watchmakers out there especially for the older less complicated watches.
