Would you trade in your Rolex 16610 for a PAM 0?

Consider that the Rolex Sub is very nice, but a dust collector since I got my first PAM and it may not see much use anymore becuase it just feels to small compared to my PAM and I have worn the Sub for the last 10 years so it's just time for a change.

I don't expect much $ for the Sub, but it would provide almost enough for a PAM 0. BTW, if you own a PAM, you know the costly addiction to have more than 1. Last thing - the only reason I still have the Sub is becuase of the sentimental value associated with getting it and possibly to pass it on to my son when he is old enough.

Thanks for reading.

I have a 116610 Submariner and a 000 and I definitely would NOT make the trade. As much as I love my PAMs, the Sub is a classic and I fear you would regret trading away your daily wearer once the "novelty" of the Panerai begins to dwindle.

Good luck in your decision...

I have a 16610 LV, a 1680 Red Sub, and a Pam 000. I wouldn't trade any of my Subs to get the Pam 000. I like the Pam 000, however I like my Subs more.

I am down to two daily wear watches now. A PAM 312 and a Sea Dweller 16600. Of course, neither of these is the exact watch you're asking about but I wouldn't give up either. If I had to choose one to wear forever, it would probably be the SD.

Besides, isn't "both" the usual TRF answer to these questions?

Well, you wore it for ten years, so, just let it collect dust a bit more and see where you are in a few months. If you have no desire to wear it and think you'd really like the zero, why not? Watches are meant to be worn and enjoyed.

I made the mistake of trading in a sub I bought in 1968 or so. I've regretted it.

I would, subs are nice but never meant for me.

However, if you mentioned theres swntimental value to it, then no, I wouldnt trade it for anything unless you're in a situation where letting it go is not an option.

Thanks for all your responses

Thank you all for contributing your thoughts. I was leaning toward holding onto the Sub, and you all make good points, which helped my decision to hold onto it.

Glad to be a new member on this forum.

Best,
M

maybe it's just me but it always seems that regret sets in at some point after selling or trading a watch...without exception. Don't sell the sub, keep both!!

Definitely no. I've let go mine and got it back later. It's the model that represents Rolex the most imho.

I've been in almost your exact same situation.

I sold my 16600 Sea Dweller to fund a new Pam 112 and have never regretted it. I loved the look of the Rolex but it just didn't get any wrist time. They're not exactly hard to come by either so you can always get another sub if the mood takes you.

I have a 233 which is my first (unless you count owning a 312 for a week) and definitely not my last PAM.

I'd be tempted for a 292 though.
