Luminova

I have a Rolex that was made with Luminova.
Not Super Luminova.

I was wondering if the normal Luminova fades like the Tritium does?
What is the life of Luminova?

If it does fade, what is the best way to have a daily Rolex fade evenly?

No Luminova or super Luminova does not fade or get the patina like the Tritium dial watches, as for life should last as long as the watch.

Probably on the bottom of his dial there is only "swiss" printed, not "swiss made"

Luminova and Super Luminova are the exact same thing...

The Japanese maker of Luminova (which is patented), put a factory in Switzerland in the 90's so makers of Swiss watches would have ready access and so it would be manufactured as "Swiss".

When the Swiss factory was opened, the product was marketed as "Super Luminova" for the watch industry, but they did not invent a new paint matrix.

x2...

what's frustrating is that despite the fact that this point has been made clearly repeatedly, many continue to adhere to some notion that there is a difference.

even if you have read all posts in the forum, cover to cover...

perhaps you could accept that there are others who have not, this may circumvent some of your frustration.

I beg to disagree.

My watch is made of Luminova, and my other watch has super luminova.
Super luminova stays bright longer, and stays brighter always.

May be that the two watches have different amounts of luminova, or one watch might be older than the other, but I doubt if Tools is wrong on this.

I really like the old lume before this new stuff, the color change is exceptional. I would compare the old lume like a fingerprint that they are different and unique.

Well, there you go. And as they say on a certain commercial, "And that's the way it is."

My "W" 16710 has lost it's glow. Considering options.

I have seen a webpage with diagrams appearing to show how superluminova is brighter than luminova. I don't know for sure whether to give it's claims any merit though.
