111 vs 177

Quite sure this ain't something new but just would like a quick pros & cons other than the price of course...
Also, is it true Ti one is more prone to scratch and not easy to buff off?

111/177....a classic dilemma....

from what i understand, titanium may scratch a little easier, but, it's harder to see the scratches and they are easier to fix on your own.

the 177 is lighter than the 111, due to the titanium, but, during the limited time i tried them on back-to-back, i didn't notice much of a difference. some swear by it, though.

at one point i was debating between these two models, before ultimately going off in another direction. i ended up preferring the brighter look of SS over the more dull titanium, but, some prefer the arguably more sporty/stealth look of the titanium.

I was a little abashed about wearing an all polished lum and was seriously considering a Ti but then a deal came along for a polished SS and I took it up, there is no looking back. I would get another SS anytime and have since scrap the thoughts of a Ti.

I think they are both easy to clean up. You can use a cap cod polishing cloth on the polished 111 and they have these little pads that can clean up the ti.

I have both a ti pam and a ss pam, I don't think one scratches easier than the other but the SS does show the little brushes quicker.

I notice a huge difference in wearing comfort (especially in warmer weather). I have both a 000 and a 177 and find myself wearing the 177 90% of the time. I also prefer the brushed, darker finish that gives a more stealthy appearance.

I find the brushed finish of the 177 to not show scratches, and especially micro-swirls. I am a person that washes my watches once a week and polished surfaces (like the 111) show swirls and hairlines almost immediately. If you do happen to scratch the Titanium, it is very easy to re-brush yourself.

On a side note, the 177 also comes with a really nice OEM dark brown croc strap, as opposed to the standard calf on the 111. It is really a fantastic looking strap.

Both are great watches...try them both on and buy the one you prefer. You can't go wrong either way.

I always thought it was interesting that ti is thought to scratch easier. Way back when I had a Citizen made of ti and the thing was virtually resistant to scratches.

i have a 005 and a 176 so i'll chime in here.

polished steel is dressier, and its much easier to find aftermarket buckles that match the steel. every aftermarket titanium buckle i have got is darker and doesnt match the oem titanium finish, and some of the buckles dont even come close.

the titanium is noticeably lighter and more comfortable. it does have a sportier look. i think the titanium watches match up better with non leather straps(rubber, nylon, carbon fiber, etc) better than a polished watch does. the oem croc strap that comes with the 177 and 176 is much nicer than the calf strap.

best advice is to try them both on. if you want a dressier look, 111 is probably better. 177 for more comfort and a sportier appearance.

I had the same issue, and ended up with a 177. The shine off a polished bezel on a 44mm watch is too much, IMHO, and the weight of the Ti model is much more comfortable. In general, the 177 is more under the radar on the wrist, although I realize some watch lovers prefer the wrist presence of polished steel. Getting scratches off titanium is easy with those little fiberglass pens. You can also use an old-fashioned gray eraser, the kind that had one side for pencil and the other side for pen. (You use the dark gray side meant for pens.) I've also noticed that minor scuffs seem to go away on their own. (I know that sounds crazy but it's true.) Either way, two beautiful timepieces. I prefer steel because of the weight but titanium has such a nice color

and I do prefer brushed and not polished, so here again I prefer the 177

But if I had to choose ..................... it would be difficult

I have the pam326 titanium and love it for the comfort and grey color. I had the 113 and 124 and found the scratches and swirls show more . The titanium goes well with straps (blue, jv tan, and black calf plus ammo by ted su) and on the new bracelet. H/e go with what you like and worry about the scratches later!!
