Rolex still use "s" designations in crystal replacements?

Following on from my earlier thread: http://www.rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=190621

If Rolex replaces the crystal on a SS SubC will this carry a small etched "s" inside the crown (in the crystal at the 6 o'clock position)?

I remember reading somewhere that this designates a service crystal replacement. Is this still true or not?

If so i'm not sure i like this idea. No idea why just my OCD i guess.

Also - what is the point of Rolex doing this ... any ideas?
Obviously it would designate a changed crystal but why would you/anyone need to know that?
