Icon5 Maybe not a good idea

This may get me in some trouble, but I have never been known to not speak my heart.

If this offends the Mods, please forgive me or erase the thread.

The question is, despite what may have happened as it was most definitely warranted, do any of any of you miss some of the banned or AWOL members? This may be construed as an attempt to hash up old unwarranted information, but please believe me it is not.

Just a yes or no will suffice.

I know a few, will not mention, that I wish would have been smarter with their actions or choice of words. Some of the gone contributed funny and informative post. I understand that a whole lot happens via PM that we are not made privy to (for a good reason) and that information is better left between the Mods and parties involved. But, tonight I was thinking about some of the old members that have been banned and wished they hadn't made the mistakes that they did.

Not trying to resurrect the old, just (again) a simple yes or no. No details or names please as this thread will be closed quicker than it was started.

You might be right. Sometimes I just need to hear it. But in my personal life, I have lost friends because of misunderstandings or emotions and I miss some of them. I think the same when I remember SOME of the "dead" ones from this great forum.

I miss Taffy Abernathy. She always posted interesting threads.

And Leo. He was good for a laugh.

I don't think either was actually banned though neither has posted for a year or so.

This seems like the right thread to ask someone to explain the difference between being Banned and being Suspended. I think that being Banned is a permanent condition and being Suspended is only temporary but I'm just hazarding a guess at this point. I was also wondering if a person is warned in some way before hand, or does the axe just suddenly fall one day.

If the Mods feel that my questions are inappropriate in any way, please feel free to delete my post but please don't delete me.

I think that the rules here are pretty clear. Usually a person is not banned for one comment, but a pattern of rude or disrespectful behavior. The mods are good at not over-reacting and tend to give out warnings before more permanent action is taken. If, after repeated warnings, a member chooses not to follow them...then I have no problem whatsoever with removing that person from the forum.

This is a nice place to hang out online...the rules keep it that way.

No one gets banned here without fair warning and the mods are doing an excellent jobs herding cats. The only reason you get banned if because you have no filter/can't play by the rules.

Also, any online community is a living thing and changes happens all the time. Sure, I miss my university-years and friends, but there is no point in looking backward.

I have been suspended here once. For calling names when I was having a bad day. It was a great punishment and made me realize how I was being affected by what other people were saying.
It's just a forum and I shouldn't let it bother me how others feel about me or my profession.
It improved my social skills both on this forum and others.
So suspension worked for me so far.

The banned members are probably active under another name or at least in another forum.

Check out some of the other Watch forums and you are sure to find them.

Sometimes I would like (but don't think I'm entitled to) an explanation. I'll tune in one day to see ----- was banned and can't seem to find any posts that would get a bannin', so it leaves me wondering.

I think it's the best run forum regardless of the reasons for banning.

Other ones I wonder why they weren't banned quicker
