Unsatisfactory automatic winding
I have a GMT Master bought in 1991 and infrequently used. Mainly I have been put off by need to wear it almost 18 hours a day otherwise it stops. If I leave the watch at my bed side at 9.30PM it stops at around 6AM and has to be rewound. This problem I have seen since almost beginning. Unfortunately I could not take it for warranty repairs during the warranty period. Subsequent servicing with an authorised service center in a Middle East country did not help. Any one else facing similar problem and any thoughts?

Are you fully winding it (40 turns)?

The rotor keeps it wound, it is not designed to wind it up.

Sound like you may need a cleaning and new mainspring.
I wear mine about 8-9 hours a day and it never stops. Welcome to the forum. |
