Help on Oyster ref 1029 yellow gold "Extra Precision"
Hi,
Somebody asked me to find out if the Rolex he has is genuine but I do not have pictures (by phone). He will bring it tomorrow but because I have no more information it will be hard to tell if the case, dial and movement are original. I would like to have more information, especially if possible, pictures so I can compare it. What I found was not much : Caliber 1560, year 1959 Caliber 1570, year 1965 The watch is yellow gold, subsidiary seconds at the bottom, marked "Oyster" at the top and "extra precision" at the bottom. Reference 1029. Hoping somebody has something on it, if no pictures maybe some info on what it should look like (case dial and movement). Any help is greatly appreciated. Filip |

Not much response it seems :)
Hi,
The guy did not have time to come by but I have some more information. White dial or at least used to be white and round case. Probably Monday I will have more info. |

I don't have too much knowledge on the vintage models. Perhaps Mike or Peter (Padi56) will be along to help you sort that out. I can tell you for sure that a picture will be most helpful to them in making their assessment. The best way is to be sure that the movement of the watch is genuine is to have it inspected by a watchmaker at a Rolex AD. As far as possible service work/modifications (dial, hands, bracelet, etc.) that would need to be commented on by our resident experts.

Boy I'd love to see a photo of it. I'm drawing a blank and save for the use of a 1560 movement I can't find anything on it.

THe story changes somewhat tsss
Hi,
It turns out that he is just a middle man and is not allowed to take the watch with him to show to me. He did have a picture, it looks like an Airking. Numbers in between the lugs he could not provide, I guess this is the end of the line for determining which watch it is? |

Prices?
Hi,
Dunno if it is allowed here but what would be a fair price for it, ok nobody here knows the watch but it probably is genuine and gold. I do not need an exact price of course just some indication as to what should be the maximum/minimum, maybe compared to prices for Rolexes of that time and style. Maybe I'll buy it, the guy wanted information but he actually wants to sell it |
