Amazing, it looks like he has a whole building reserved just to hold all of them.

That guy has a problem. I bet you hardly any of them get played. Shame on him.

I thought I had a few too many, (or so my wife thinks!), an American Standard Strat, an American Standard Tele, a Gibson Les Paul Standard and finally a Faith Saturn acoustic, and yes, I do play them all, but not at the same time.
If anyone is interested I will post a pic, including my Sub CD , to let you lot see them. I also have a fantastic Cornell boutique amp. It is wonderful!! |

I love all of it.... OP's stuff and Mr. P-shop's stuff too!
I too am afflicted with collect-id-ous! I know a few people who built part of their fortunes speculating on stringed-things..... one guy bought all the 60s/70's strats he could through the early 70's while in college........ we all know the price of those babies now...... The key is to buy the next big thing and not the tiasco-del-ray's :) :) |

I pretty much frown on collecting of any sort - imaging living your life obsessed with things. It just doesn't make sense to me. If I collect anything it would be friends/relationships/experiences.

Still don't know what you mean. My post? We are a privately owned family run shop so every guitar is mine hence this is my collection to Sell, Smash, take home or burn for fire wood if I want to.
I don't know if you are being rude just not making sense. Now do you want to tell me what you don't understand about my post? OR are you referring to the OP? I don't think you are because previously you posted without mention of any misunderstanding. |

A pawn shop you happen to own doesn't constitute a personal collection in my estimation. My dad has a '62ish Melody Maker double cutaway, similar to the one you posted.

Sweet Matt!
And to the non-collectors, it can be fun. You have to do your homework, but the search for that rare holy grail and the people you meet in this hobby make it worth it. I've made some really good friends in the guitar collecting biz. But you do have to know what you're doing, or like anything you'll get hozed.... with fake/refin'd/misrepresented junk. Keep em coming. I am on a silverburst kick these days....... a couple sp lp customs, 1 sb flying v, and a silverburst dean z from the 80's :). |

If I was working at Cash America or some Shop that was owned by partners that might make sense to me. I own the guitars. I won't sell the Vintage models shown in pics so what are they if they aren't my collection? In my "Estimation" if you are going to leave them to your kids they are your personal collection. I guess all of these aren't a collection Either are they? |
