Tomorrow, in Hawai'i

One of the greatest spectacles in sports, or perhaps in humanity.

The Ironman Triathlon World Championship.

Swim 2.4 miles
Bike 112 miles
Run 26.2 miles

Brag for the rest of your life.

NBC broadcasts the telecast in late November. I encourage ANY of you who have a fitness goal to read the stores of the some of the athletes on the website (www.ironman.com). The field is typically 1700+, all ages and sizes. They don't cut the distance for anyone. The stories of many of the competitors are truly inspiring. I was there when John Blais crossed the finish line, in spite of having mid-stage ALS.

You can learn more about John here: www.waronals.com

In any event, if you are passionate enough to wear a Rolex, perhaps you are passionate enough to believe in the Ironman mantra: Anything is Possible

Respectfully

-Lavaman

Hey, I know a guy who qualified for that this year. I think he's nuts. He's in over thirty or over forty. I don't know him too well, he's a friend's brother-in-law, but you qualify for this, people tend to talk about it!

This is quite a feat. I used to run the much shorter International distance triathlons when I was a teen, and always really admired the Ironman triathletes, especially Dave Scott who won Hawaii several times.

I can barely handle the cycling part by itself. All three together? Forget about it.

Most of the age-groupers are just average folks who just decided to pick up a challenge. usually because someone told them they couldnt do it.
