At over $8,000 for what use to be an entry level Rolex, I just can't see this watch sustaining much popularity after the initial rush to be the first one to own it. These should be heavily discounted one year from now (on the secondary market) just like the white and black Milgauss...........just my .02!!!!

There has been quite a buzz, and they do look pretty nice.

Only time will tell as to how popular they will be for sure.

Current msrp is $7750.--

look in For Sale section here... $8500+ is the going rate. either resellers are gouging, or they paid retail themselves and are tipping their hand at what their margins are in the grey market.

You are correct on both points; but that does not change msrp; which is still below 8k!

The MSRP in the United States does not include local sales tax !
Even if the sticker price is $7,750.- you pay over $8,000.- at check out.
Except out-of-state sales.
The sales tax varies from state to state and from county to county.
Where I live the tax is 6.0% (Florida).
In Europe the tax is included in the MSRP in most countries.

Well, it was a niche player before, and now it's more expensive and has a giant orange hand..... Those that are fans will snap them up, but it'll never, IMO, be a SubC or GMTIIc.

I think 10 K is the breaking point for SS watches. Especially non Daytona's in this economy.
