why eBay sucks...rant

So I've sold over $50,000 on eBay (car, guitars and a few watches)this year and been buying and selling since 1999.
I have over 600 feedback and have never had a negative one.

Well I sold a guitar tonight and was paid by the buyer instantly. When I clicked on my paypal account it showed the money was pending and would be available after Nov 1st!

I called paypal to see what was up since I've never had this happen.

I was told I had a "high" risk account due to the category of items I've been selling and my rating on shipping cost has fallen below 4.8 which flags something in the system. Now any funds sent to me must sit for 21 days.

I can say that I'm done selling on eBay. What a load of crap!

eBay
Thanks for listing to my rant

Yikes, that's too bad. That's probably why more sellers these days seem to offer free shipping.

Yes, If any of your ratings drop below 4.8 you account goes into this "freeze" mode. Every 30 days they re-evaluate your status.

Hey Matt, the same thing happened to me. It really sucks! I think it's eBay's way of financing their business with OUR money! I wish there was a class action lawsuit against them I could join. Jerks!

Paypal is very arbitrary like that ... nothing you can do about it ... and if you call 5 times they will tell you 5 different things ... Every time I had a hold situation, it resolved without issues though.

Nowadays, my limit for ebay/paypal is 500 bucks. It has became very seller unfriendly.

I hate ebay and paypal but they're virtually the only game in town for those sorta things. I had that freeze happen to me last year when I sold a coin, and called and chewed out PayPal (I heard sometimes that works ;-). The only thing you can wait for is positive feedback or delivery confirmation, then they'll release the funds. It is such a joke. And isn't it true that sellers cannot leave negative feedback for buyers anymore!? Ugh...
