First picture of first Rolex, as promised

Here's the new Sub, like I said when I joined up last week. Took this one at the beach in Florida after first figuring out the camera and software. Some of the emerald water is visible, but the sunburn isn't!!! Also enclosed is my tool watch, which I wore daily for years and now goes where the Sub could be dinged up or worse (witness the scratches...). JJ was right, using a good lens is key!

Great choice, and a great looking watch.

Don't worry too much about the little scratches and dings. Once you get past the first one, the rest are easily overlooked.

That watch will last your lifetime even if you wore it every single day; with the exception of a week off every few years for a clean and oil..

Great looking Submariner! It is such an excellent and iconic watch, you can go on forever saying many good things about it. Me being a WIS, I can spot those watches from all the way across a room sometimes. Submariners have that strong and bright Rolex "glare" that any watch enthusiast will easily detect. I usually compliment the owner and we start talking about it a little.

Anyways, enjoy the watch for a long time to come and wear it with the best of health!!

So did you let your new subby go for a swim? It's still a virgin till you take it swimming.

Yup! The water's nice, too! Folks talk about the bulk and heft, but honestly it feels very comfortable, even on my small wrist. To be fair: the Luminox's steel just is NOT 904L, that's why the scratches, methinks! I believe the Sub will hold up a lot better over the comming years (once more- Why, oh why, did I wait so long?). And yes again, I have become somewhat sensitive to Rolex spotting during the day! Thanks again to all for everything I learned while loafing on the TRF & deciding about my purchase, and while deciding how to compose the pics. The welcome has been outstanding!!! Now, what should be next? TT blue, GMT (Pepsi, red/blk, GMT II)? Explorer? Air King? Hmmmmmmm?

Congrats on your new watch, a great piece.

For your next watch, I say a nice DJ, then you have a sport and a dress watch.

Thanks, guys!! I used a Nikon D40x, with a lens comparible to the Leica you posted, and the resolution set to "JPEG fine". The photo has been slightly cropped, and then resized to fit on the thread (size limit). This gives really good detail in the final result; however, there is are a lot of pixels, so it won't work when creating an avatar. Gonna need a lower resolution in order to do that, unless someone has an idea?

Great pics, Jamie, and a beautiful watch. (The Luminox isn't bad either). Enjoy the Sub.
