Face Recognition in a Crowd

Face Recognition in a Crowd

This is a crowd before a riot.
Put your cursor anywhere in the crowd and double-click.
Keep double clicking until you can see each face clearly.
This is a great tool for law enforcement.
You can see perfectly the faces of every single individual and there were thousands!

Privacy? Just think what the police and the military have at their disposal.

Amazing.

I didn't think it was possible to retain the sharpness to be able to identify an individual in this shot.

Too bad you didn't post it in the 'Open' section, more of us would have seen it.

i don't know about the punchline ("Privacy? Just think what the police and the military have at their disposal"), but, pretty cool nonetheless.

He takes some great photographs.

The idea of a gigapixel photograph is not necessarily new, with others having done a similar thing:

I think I read this was a compbination of 15 hiRes images. Still amazing.
Even more amazing is the Canucks choked that series and lost the cup.

taken over a 15-minute span, and is not supposed to represent a single moment in time.
Also it represents several (18 I think) cameras doing the work and compilation efforts on the back end. It's far beyond what you can anticipate law enforcement to generally have available to them.
