You know, this is very suprising, just from my time living in San Diego and SOCAL, (probably longer then most of you have been alive, but moving on), I remember back in college, in 79 and 80, I was on the Lacrosse team at UC San Diego. I remember going up to play USC one day, and they called the game in the second half because of the stage 48 (or whatever it was) smog alert. I remember the pain in my chest from breathing hard and it got so difficult just to run. I felt terrible and after the game the team bus went to the nearest beach to breathe some clean Ocean air; we all felt better. Anyway, I am not saying we don't have the dirtiest air, but in my experience, it has gotten WAY better in the last 30 years. I have not seen days like the ones back in the late 70s early 80s.

I've been to San Diego a few times, and I always thought that the air was very crisp and fresh ...
