Same style - just bigger...
Hello at all,
first of all I would like to make a big compliment to this forum and their members. I spent hours by reading your intersting posts and helpful comments to other members as I became kind of fanatic about rolex watches. After owning a couple of Omegas, Longines and an IWC I decided to buy my first Rolex last week: the Explorer (114270) Now after a couple of days I am still fascinated about the design and the simple style of the watch. The problem: I do have small wrists - but the watch is too small. Do you have any alternative ideas concerning your experience with Rolex watches? My requirements or wishes: 1. A Rolex 2. No date 3. Not too big on the wrist (36 - 40) 4. Not the Explorer 214270 What do you think: A Milgauss, a 116000 or a 14060??? Thanks in advance for your inputs Philipp |

A 14060 is sporty although depends on your style...
Milgauss...would work IMHO. The Explorer is perfect...not sure why you wouldn't want that? |

Mil or Sub would be a great choice. Go try them on and see what works for you. Good luck.

Easy choice , the classic 14060, looks smart but can take a beating, works with jeans or a suit.
best suggestion is to go and try one on. Ladies can carry off a Sub so the wrist size shouldnt be an issue.

Daytona hands down!!!! I love that watch but I like a date so no Daytona for me. I really wish they would throw a date function on the Daytona.

Milgauss: Here are the reasons.
1. Rolex and no date. 2. 40 mm, just perfect. 3. Bracelet and clasp are awesome. |

I would go to your nearest AD and try some out in person.

Rolex 114270 Explorer is 36mm, which is a little larger than the traditional 34mm size man's watch.
Your Explorer is not small. The Rolex dive watches are larger, 40mm, for the function viewing underwater. And the Daytona is large for viewing while racing a car. If you want a watch for everyday wear, the one you have is the sensible size. Quote:

Thanks for all comments so far.
In the next days I will give the 14060 and the Milgauss and a chance on my wrist. (Not for the Daytona-(Versions) as this watch is to expensive for me). Quote:

Milgauss black looks very similar to the explorer, simple, no date, and clean sleek look

14060. Stylish, classic, iconic.
Good with anything, suit, jeans, sports. Go for it!

I would also go to AD and try a few on. With that said--one can never go wrong with a classic Sub!

Solid advice so far. You have to try on all the models. Numbers are deceiving, some wear mush bigger, or smaller than others that are the same size. You will find one that sings to you.

Welcome to TRF, in between the choices you gave I'd choose the Milgauss, it's not a Rolex you see very often outside this forum.

Maybe the 14060... I love my Milgauss, but I already had a classic GMT Master II. If I didn't already have that, I think I would have purchased a more classic looking sports model before buying the new modern looking Milgauss.

My choice would be 14060m, try it on and I dare you to take it off.
Good luck! |

The YM II? It's very expensive but it's bigger than the Milgauss or no-date Sub, and the new TT version looks gorgeous to me...

shouldn't be too hard to decide between the ND and milgauss. put each on and one will "sing" for you.

First off, welcome to TRF! You'll learn a lot here and meet some nice folks.
For me, it would be the Milgauss because of the uniqueness of the piece. But, try them on and wear them for extended periods of time, not just a few minutes. Be sure and look in a full length mirror and get the one you like the best! |
