Anyone into Archery/Bowhunting?

Any other Archers or Bowhunters here? What type of bow do you use? Wear a Rolex while shooting your bow? (apologize if some find this post offensive or think this post promotes violence.)

Myself been using a compound (Mathews LX) for a few years and did a bit of Whitetail hunting with it in Indiana (took a nice 6 point from 30 meters - one of the real highlights of my life), but after reading several issues of Traditional Bowhunter Mag want to get into traditional Archery.

Have a Black Widow Recurve being made for me. Probably ship it over to Afghan and set up a target here. Good to practice and great way to blow off stress. One of my goals is to get really good at instinctive shooting with traditional archery equipement. Just a fine piece of wood, string and some wooden fletched arrows!

Really amazed at some of the craftsmanship that some of these traditional Bowyers have! Just real works of art!

And yeah, I will be wearing a Rolex Sport watch while shooting my bow! Either my Explorer II or GMT II. (of coursethe bracelet will be covered up by a leather arm guard).

Not for many, many years Chad but I used to go to an archery club when I was a teenager - still have the bow and arrows somewhere
Have you ever had a bow with an 'Arten' sight on it? Only because the Arten company is about 4 mins walk from my house!

Only if you have explosive tipped arrows! LOL LOL LOL (Rambo movies, now those are a real joke!)

Still plan on traveling to Bhutan as well, where Archery is the National Sport! Some incredible archers there that take really long 100 meter shots with traditional bows!

Have to look up what a Arten Site is. Have a Tru Glow site on my Mathews.

Going to try to get more into Instictive shooting, hae tried it some already. Takes a lot of practice. Basically you use no sites at all. You only look at the target, and let you mind and mind/body coordination take over and instictively guide the arrow to the target. Just like an experience basketball player shoots the ball into the hoop, or how you instinctively point your finger at an objest and are dead on.

I've always liked the idea of bow and arrow because it's a tool that's been around for so long and has SO much history, and yet remains almost exactly how it was in its orignal format.

my father was a champion 2 years ago and he is bowhunting right now. He has a Hoyt pro elite another hoyt which is for hunting a pse and his first recurve bow which is a yamaha. He is actually really good and he participated also in the olympics in moscow. He is using easton arrows but right now he is not practicing due to his job. Bows are reliable but when he goes hunting he always takes the 357 magnum just in case

I had a simple bow and arrow but nowhere to use it so I threw it away. It was a Canadiantire brand LOL!

Back in Manila, my dad had this real bow and arrow used by the natives... with the barbed tips and all. It was given actually to his brother as a gift, but his bro didn't bring it to the USA when he immigrated there.

Roadcarver, would have loved to have seen that Native Bow your dad had. What part of the PI is your Dad from? Where you born in the PI yourself? Spent a month in Mindoro doing some Dive training. Actually have a Filipino uncle from Northern Luzon.

We will have to get together someday and have some Balut and San Miguel!!

Balut's one of my favourites!!!! San Miguel beer not my fav, but Stella Artois.

I was born in Quezon City and lived there till I was 15... then I moved to Canada and been here since!

One day when you're in TO or when I'm in your neck of the woods, let's have balut!
