Does wearing your Rolex give your wrist a tanline during the Summer?

Its a hot Summer here right now in North America and every Summer that of having worn my GMT and Exp II, I've noticed that my wrist becomes lighter in color than my hand and the rest of my arm altogether. Its like there's a tanline on my wrist. I am outside a lot and am always under the sun. I also notice that when driving, the sunlight always hits my arm when I'm wearing my watch so I think driving a lot is a major contributor to the tanline on my wrist.

I noticed the tanline on my parents who wear Rolex watches themselves as well. I used to wear a digital watch everyday when I was way younger but can't really remember if I ever had a tanline from wearing that watch too. I don't think I ever did. Right now, the contrast on my wrist is not very noticeable, but every time I look down at my wrist like as I type this now, I cant help but laugh a little at how silly it looks.

My question is, do any members here on TRF have a similar experience when you wear your watches in the summer and/or most of the time when you're not wearing long sleeves?? Or am I just pretty crazy for posting this?

So I plan on making a poll of this question for no real reason at all but just to observe any possible statistics to my question. Have a good Wednesday/Thursday everyone!!

I wear my watch all of the time, especially at the pool and beach. I have a nice tan line and it is only noticeable when I take my watch off, which is rare.

Here in S.FL the sun has been very intense this past summer.
When riding my HD I first put on sun lotion SPF 50 on my arms and face.
I wrap my Wht.Exp.II in a microfiber cloth and put it in my saddle bag.
When arriving at my destination usually (Florida Keys) Key Largo or Islamorada I then put on my watch.
Having a sun tan line on my left wrist is avoided and I prefer not having one.

We've had a very hot summer in Ohio but I take the watch off while golfing. Also when driving I keep my arm down by the arm rest. Just an anal thing I have about possible fading of the dial. So I don't notice much of a tan line.

Yes but doesn't have to be a Rolex that will give the tan line.

I've got a biker [bicycle that is] tan. Don't wear a watch when riding so no problem.

I live in Arizona, so I get the benefit of beautiful bright sunshine pretty much year-round...the tan-line from my watch is perma-baked into my arm!

Yea I went to Arizona last week to Lake Havasu, Sedona, and Grand Canyon and then Las Vegas for 3 days. Needless to say I was getting wayyyyy too much sun exposure for the whole week. I have a very noticable watch tan with the oyster case shape not centered to my wrist.

Wow...that's quite a trip. Obviously the Grand Canyon and Sedona on account of all the gorgeous natural beauty, Vegas is...well...Vegas (enough said) and then Havasu. Was the lake crazy?

I've been wearing a watch since middle school and I've had a tan line on my wrist since than. And the fact that I tan very easily will contribute to it.

I get a tan line when I'm out in the sun and wearing short sleeves or I'm on the beach. Doesn't bother me because I cover it up with the watch (which is why I got the tan line in the first place ).

Gentlemen,

You've probably noticed the small spaces between the links on your Rolex.
You're also probably aware the the Rolex Oyster bracelette moves on the wrist
with arm movement and is not stationary.
This non-stationary bracelette and the precisely designed spacing between links was specifically designed into the Rolex bracelette to eliminate tan lines.
The Chinese have not been able to duplicate these fine incremental design features.
If you have tan lines from you Rolex, I strongly suggest you take it to the closest AD and have its' authenticity verified
A tan line most often signifies a Folex.

No tan line here, although during the summer months the "grime" factor seems to go up. If I am out in the sun sweating thin black "grime" builds up in the left side of my wrist. It occurs only in the summer time and is solved by washing the watch with mild hand soap. I am a clean freak so it drives me nuts. Other Rolex owners report the same build up. Three months out of the year is not too bad I guess.

The lake was actually calm considering no flashing or parties. Lots of people drinking here and there, small party groups on lake but nothing like the stuff you see on Girls Gone Wild !
You are right, Vegas is Vegas....I talked to so many people at the bar and I dont even remember. I was drinking from 4pm until 5am in the morning. Wandering around the city and ended up leaving the strip club VIP room at 5am. I dropped SO MUCH money in Vegas compare to Havasu, Sedona, and Grand Canyon combined ! The whole trip was fun though

My watch is worn a little loose so it slides up and down my wrist all day, Basically I have a larger tan line than normal ppl lol... Not too noticeable though thankfully!
