Which game console should I get the kids? Xbox vs Wii
Hi all
just asking for opinions and pro's and con's on which games console to get the kids this Christmas? Have narrowed it down to either Xbox with Kinect or Wii? Kids are 5 (boy) and 7 (girl), so no need for hardcore war games. Most interested in karaoke style sing/dance and sports oriented games. Price for Xbox (with 250Gb drive) is nearly double Wii, but that is low on the list of priorities. I like the idea of not needing to buy additional hardware for motion detect. What issues should I consider?

Given their ages I'd go with the Wii, it has a lot of games that are very nice for kids and the fact that you have to move to control your characters or to play is quite interesting! As well, I believe it has more sports/dancing games!

Wii definately. Nintendo makes a lot of fun, kid-friendly games. The Wii fit is fun as well. You can also stream Netflix through the system which is handy.

Wii has had its day in my store, Xbox outsells it by 10 - 1, get them an Xbox with Kinect kit, fun for the kids & the grown ups too

I think the Wii is a better choice given your kids ages, but if you're going to play it, go with the Xbox.

I dont think you will go wrong with either. The kinect is very nice. I find that xbox has more game choices and can also cater to adults.
PS3 with move is an option and doubles as blue ray :) Id compare game prices as well before making the purchase and see what is the best cost $ avg including the game console. Personally, Id go the cheapest route, It will be used and beat up in a few months anyway. :) Good luck |

My two younger kids are 4 and 8. They want a Wii. Not that we're getting it - they tend to spend too much time in front of screens as it is.

We have both, my kids are 13 and 11. The Xbox gets more play now but the Wii is definitely the better fit for younger ages.
