Nope, you have it backwards. It's not to be used on gold.

That tube looks well used!! Thanks for the info Chris. Will it keep brushed finished the way it is or will it make it polished and reflective?

I would NEVER polish my watch with any metal polish or with the Cape Cod cloth.
I only WASH my Rolex from time to time and dry it with a clean cotton tissue. Sometimes I let the watch be off the wrist until it "cools down" and then I just breathe on it and then polish off the film that has collected on the case sides.

Yes, the bezel insert is anodized aluminum (except the Ceramic, of course). Anodizing is an electro plate type of process.
Think of it as colored rust. If you polish it, even a little, you will take it right down to the parent aluminum base.. you can use a bit of non abrasive car wax on it though. |

Sounds like Wenol Blue Metal Polish may be the 'safer' choice.

I use a VERY small amount on the Rollies. The brushed finish is not altered,it just gives it an amazing shine. You can really see that high Ni content of the Rolex ss.Nice blueish sparkly shine, that distinguishes Rolex ss from the rest. Obviously I dont polish them every day.The thin layer that I apply, wipes off, very easily. So its not like polishing a car with some real "elbow grease" |

I also use warm water and liquid hand soap. After a good rinse and terry cloth dry, I find fingerprints encountered later are easily & quickly removed with a microfiber cloth or clean t-shirt cloth.

I use Happich's Simichrome polish to keep my acrylic crystals clear on my watches. I'll look for some Wenol to try.

Has anybody ever used the "Sunshine" polishing cloth?
My watch guy sold me one and it seems to work nicely. I've used them on my SS watches. Although no Rolexs. Most people here, as well as John Holbrook, advocate the cape cod. Any experiences or thoughts about the Sunshine? |

Soap and hot water will certainly clean your watch, but I wouldn't say that it polishes it. A cape cod polishes and removes fine scratches, soap does not.

Using those jewelry steamers that the ADs use gives a polished effect to the watch as well.
I was able to buy one and I use it every few months on my watches. Works like a charm. Just bring the watch under the hot steam for a few seconds and it looks brand new afterwards. The only warning to hot steam is that I think it has the ability to cause a crack on the sapphire crystal if the steam comes directly in contact with the crystal when its cold. So I rinse my watches under warm water first to warm the crystal, then steam clean it.

Having been around Rolex watches and others longer that some of you were born.Just plain old soap and water is all thats needed to keep any Rolex looking good.Leave all the polishing to the experts when you have watch serviced its that simple.
