Would you trade a Daytona for a Pam Sub??
I bought a TT daytona 116523 model (fat hands), and I have only worn the watch a few times, honestly, it has been sitting in the winder for too long. I have always like the Pam 106 Sub with anthracite dial, and I think I would wear it a lot more. Would you make that trade, and if so, what would you expect in regards to getting some $$ back along with the Pam. I have chyecked out prices, and the Pam is definitely lower in price.
Or do you think I am nuts is considering that, and after seeing what the TT daytonas are going for, I really don't know. Experts, please chime in!! Thanks. |

Buy and wear what you like. If the Daytona gets no wrist time, its time to get rid of it.

I'm not sure about the money you will get back in the trade but as Christiaan said if the Daytona doesn't have any wrist time and that PAM is one of your grails I would do the trade.

All good advice above. Go for it but don't expect to make a profiit. Dont know much about the PAM you are seeking but for some strange reason all PAMs seem to hold their value quite well. It's all about getting what you'll wear IMO unless one is a collector.

They seem like very different watches to me, so I suppose it would depend on what else I already have in the collection. If you have no other Chronos, the Daytona seems like a keeper. Vise versa if you have no serious divers.
That being said, if the Daytona isn't getting much wear you might be right in thinking it's time for a change.

As mentioned, it it's not getting wrist time.....
What's the point of owning it if you don't enjoy it anymore. |

Will the Pam Get the wrist time lost or will it sit in the winder also? if it will get the wrist time then go for it, if not sell it and buy an ordinary watch and spend the money to something will be useful to you!

I definitely do not think you are nuts. For me personally, Panerai is immensely more enjoyable to wear than any Rolex I have owned to include the SS Daytona. The PAM + 2K sounds like a decent deal but I'm not sure how realistic of an expectation that is. That being said, I would rather lose some money & get a watch I would love to wear rather than keep a pricier watch I have little interest in. Just be sure you REALLY want the PAM before pulling the trigger, have you had a chance to try one on?

I say go for it. There's no sense in keeping a watch you don't wear unless you just want to collect them.

Always do what'll make you happy regarding watches IMO. They are there to be enjoyed primarily and worn. If you're not wearing a model then why have it? It passes on to someone who will hopefully relish it and you get a watch in return you feel the same about. Panerai are a great brand. I say go for it. As for trade values I'm not sure on that one.

If you don't wear the Daytona get rid of it. But, not for a straight trade. I am not knowledgeable of the Pam's exact value but know it is less than the Daytona.

If I find myself not wearing it regularly, it's time for it to go - even if the replacement is a watch that others might think is not as desirable. |

Personally I will never trade a Rolex for a Panerai. I tried on several Panerais and it's only this that I would only consider getting. I think it's 336 - rose gold, 42mm(but wears smaller), tobacco dial, manual wind - a nice weekend watch.

Why have it if you'll never wear it. If you think the PAM will have more wrist time, then I'd get it.

Get rid of it, if you don't have much wrist time.
Enjoy your new watch!

Yes, since you asked, I think you're nuts if you do this trade! Not in a million years would I trade my daytona for a 106, and that's coming from a risti. I believe you'd have a hard time getting rid of a 106 in the future :( You might want to consider more historic PAM models.

I would never do that trade, but a watch that you don't wear is useless to you. Trade it if you think you will wear it more.

Personally I would do what makes you happy. I buy and wear watches I like, not what has more resale, what is the coolest, or more age appropriate.
Wear what makes YOU happy. -Eddie
