How do you take those great photos?
Hi all,
There are some amazing photos being taken of watches...particularly those in the classified area... What camera and more importantly, what lens are being used (including speeds and apertures please)... Any tips would be greatly appreciated... Cheers, Ian |

If you download the photos you like you can browse the metadata fairly easily, which will give you the camera, focal length, ISO, etc.
It's easiest on a Mac by right clicking the file and clicking on Get Info. On a PC it's nearly as easy by right clicking on the file, clicking Properties, clocking the Summary tab, and clicking on the Advanced>> button. Happy hunting!

Soft boxes are also used to get a softer lighting look. Notice no hard lines in the shadows. Light placement and practice are also key elements. Lens and even less so, camera choice, are only 5% of the equation in a good photograph like those. Being careful of reflections is key as well.
Mostly practice and experimentation will get you good results. |

Mastering the light and show the camera something worth seeing (composition) is 99% of the work.
The camera is just about irrelevant. There are two pics below, none very special. Just wrist shots for WRUW Today threads. One is taken with a camera phone and one is taken using about 2500 dollars in equipment. Can you tell them apart?
