Which One? Opinions Welcome
Hello Friends,
Wondering which one you would pick and why? I'm leaning towards the AP, but could be otherwise persuaded. Happy Sunday. Images borrowed from the web. |

I voted neither, as I prefer SS or TT watches, and if I were going to get an AP (which I'm thinking of at the moment ), I'd get it with a band as their bands are just fabulous. So, I'll say "neither" with a caveat: if you get it with the band, I'm in the AP column.

Go for the DD! Are you getting it from Royale De Versailles on Bloor? I'm pretty sure they sell AP there.

Between those two I'd favor the AP.

Ps. Love the Hornback strap. Had a Safari and it is a looker! I also prefer DD over both but since it is a DDII- Safari for me.

I don't really like the strap for the AP, it wouldn't have the same life as a metal band.

If it was the classic 36mm DD it would get my vote.

Hey Sandro,
Long time. Wow. Your collection has grown / diversified. I like the old-school day date myself. Would love one in platinum. Not a fan of that brown strap on the AP...although I find myself more intrigued by the brand. This is just what happened to me with Panerai!!! |

Very tough call.
I've owned the Safari and it is an absolutely gorgeous watch.
I am yet to have the DD2. Two very different watches but I think I would go DD2 as I've realized I'm not much of a strap guy even though that hornback is a stunner. |

I didn't think I was a strap guy either, but I'm a changed man now that I own a few with straps. Very comfortable.

The DD, but I would go for a different dial.

Definitely, definitely, definitely the AP. Far better presence on the wrist. Try it and you'll see in an instant.

those are two very different watches.....i ended up going AP since, for AP, i really like the safari and diver, while for the DDs, i'm partial to the 36mm DDs that are not YG (platinum, please).
both are quite nice, though. |

Get the old DD,the proportions of the DD II don`t have the same appeal,no way for the AP.

Hmm, the DD is a fine watch, but the DDII is a STATEMENT. It is phenomenally huge, and a wonderful watch for someone under 60 (over 60, as well, but the DD seems much more an older gentleman's watch compared to the DDII). Please try them both on if you're going to compare them.
I had seen and tried on the DD several times before I first laid eyes and hands on Big Brother. Certainly, the first time I saw the DDII the enormity of the case and dial were almost off-putting for me. However, after extended trials of both watches at the AD, my mind was made up - DDII it was. As I've had it on my wrist constantly since purchase, I could not imagine being happier with my time piece. It's phenomenally heavy, and has enough presence to fill up an entire room, all on it's own. My advice would be to get some extended wrist time with both DD and DDII if you're deciding between the two, and have someone take pictures of the two watches on you for comparison. If that's you in your avatar, you look like a younger gentleman, certainly under 60. Given that and your appearance, I would highly recommend DDII, and also recommend it over the AP (unless it's going to be a YG or RG Royal Oak on bracelet ($44k)). |

Never been a big fan of AP. I would choose your 7 day over the two.
