I know this is the Rolex sub-forum, but I bought a 2006 Omega SMP 300m (blue Bond watch) with the 2500 movement from a buddy of mine for $1100. No way I could pass on that price!

In hindsight, my 5513, brand new, for $390 doesn't seem too costly.....granted, that was a WHILE ago

All that and the pre- Daytona's and early Daytona's that the AD's couldn't get rid off even with big discounts back then

IWC Chrono brand new online for $5,000.00 2 years ago....List was $7.500.00. So it was already discounted online grey dealer site.
The kicker is... Bing was giving 50% cash back if you searched thru Bing and bought.
2 months later Bing sent me $2,500.00 back so NIB IWC watch cost me $2,500.00 total.
Not too bad.... :-)

Regards.

Also not Rolex, but I got my Zenith Chronomaster Open from an AD out-of-state that was clearing out their stock for 60% off. Couldn't pass up that deal..

I paid less for it new than they sell used to this day. :)

Nice little find at the boot sale lurking in a box of old watch bits and pieces that cost me just a few pounds a Rolex ultra prima 15 jewel movement, hallmark is for 1920. Was not working and crystal was missing, dial was very dirty. My friend gave it a good clean replaced crystal now working fine.If you look on the dust cover you can see
some of the service marks, watchmakers in them days, scratched the dates of service etc, on the case or dust covers. And there are few there, prices ranging from 2 shillings = 10p, to 50p =10 shillings

I picked up a lovely little vintage Baume wrist watch, manual wind, probably from the 1950s or 1960s. After a service, new crown and glass from the watchmaker, as well as a new strap, my total outlay was £40.

In 1965 I was given this Tudor Sub by my best friend while we were stationed together. He was an Air Force para rescueman and the AF issued these watches to them back then. He conveniently "lost" his and was issued another one.

Here it is after I had it restored several years ago and sold it for over $4000.

I was TDY at Adak NAS in 1991, after it began closure...anyhow the exchange was having a pretty good sale on everything. I passed by the jewelry counter and spied a Tudor Sub on the bottom shelf...looked it over a noted a tiny scratch near the date bubble. haggled a good bit with the manager, he confirmed that if not sold, he would have an admin bear to send it back to Yokota...I hit him up with the old' what will it take to walk out the door with it? $540 later it was mine! but that good deal soon cost me another $2300 thru the AAFES special order program at Ft. wainwright for the wifey's Champagne Day Date.
