It shouldn't matter unless you are maybe taking a picture.

But no, it doesn't matter at all.

I think I speak for most people on this forum that even though we can be extremely picky, the direction that the crown faces when screwed in is just chance and doesnt make any difference.

you may get a crown that faces straight up but eventually wear and tear on the gasket rubber will make it move

Ha, if you are taking a picture you can put it anywhere you like. Who is going to know it's not tight?

It doesn't make a difference for me at all. I can't even see it.

When I've had my watch serviced at the RSC, they replace the crown, anyway. They certainly don't care about the direction.

Now, if the Rolex crown on the face underneath the "12 o'clock" mark at the top were upside down, that would be a different story altogether!

When you send your watch in for service and the tube is replaced, you'll likely lose your existing orientation.

Am I the only person a bit surprised that no one here seems to care what direction the crown points given all the other minutia that seems to set people off?? Not that it really matters.

So what you are saying if you had the chance to buy say a vintage Daytona or a Comex sub, double red single red sub or SD at a very good price. And because the crown did not line perfectly upright you would not buy.Perhaps you should get your hands on your watch set at almost 10 past 10 and date set to the 28th just like the Rolex brochure pictures.Who or what dictates that the winding crown has to line up with anything except in brochure pictures.Perhaps Rolex should remove the emblem from the winding crown then everyones would line up somewhere,Rolex makes functional watches not alignment points.

Only one Rolex i ever had the Pepsi GMT was the crown upright, and that was just luck.If you will only buy one that the crown finnishes upright you will be waiting a long time to buy a Rolex. Rolex should make them with four little crowns on and then the winder will be near ok for you...crazy as its not important.

It's something I would never even think about looking for if I hadn't read this thread. Now that I have read this thread I promise you I still will not look.

I've never paid a bit of attention. I had to pop my Sob off and take a look just to see which way it's turned on mine.

Ideally I want it straight. My DJ was that way. My Sub is not. It bothets me a bit, but the more I read, the less it actually does.
