Double Incoming! Best Weekend Ever!!!

Likely the best weekend I've had in a while in terms of incoming additions to the collection.

After a long long search for my Ultimate Grail, and believing that everything is meant to be I acquired a birth year (1977) DRSD from Jacek. The condition is immaculate and exactly what I was searching for. This search took me over two years and as a sacrifice I need to get rid of my 116520 and PAM233, but IMHO well well worth it! Without delay, here is my ultimate grail:

After getting rid of my 116520, I could not bare the thought of leaving my collection Daytona-less. With much disappointment in the current Basel release and going through many many modern Rolexes in the past two years, for some reason I kept on going back to vintage. Once again, the search began, this time it was for a 16520 White Dial A-Serial in complete set.

Coming from it's original birth place of Basel, Switzerland and from a flawless transaction from a well known collector and dealer here is my (new to me) 16520:

It's been difficult to choose which to wear these last two days as I am in love with both. I promised my wife that these two will be the last additions in a while and I truly believe that they will satisfy my 'needs' for some time. Unless...I cross paths with a birth year 6263 PN any time soon!

Congrats! Enjoy, the DRSD is special watch. Does yours have a straight or rounded caseback?

A beautiful double red made better by being your birth year.
Pity they didn't make them in 1948.

The Daytona makes a nice pair to round off the weekend.

Guess there wouldn't be that many people around who could afford a '48 DRSD (if she existed) ?
What would the price be today (make a guess) ?
Would be a real holy grail for a lot of members here on TRF or better worldwide ;-)
