Diff btw a sub and a LV sub??
Guys, what's the difference between a sub and an LV sub other than the green piece of aluminum glued-on bezel?
Just tryin to justify the price difference of $1.5k, since the most eye catching traits of the LV is only the green bezel plate to an unexperienced eye. |

The LV Sub also has the Maxi Dial with the wider sword shaped minute hand and larger superluminova hour markers.

Green insert and slightly larger dots... IMHO nobody should pay over MSRP for one..

Unfortunatley for you living in Singapore, the Sub LV is way over priced. In America the Sub LV is priced at only a couple of hundred dollars more and not that hard to find compared to the Regular Sub-Date. SUB LV price is $5525 and Sub-Date is $5250. ADs in Singapore and Malaysia sell the Sub LV at premiums, dus to it's rare and collectiable value there. The only difference is the Maxi Dial (larger hands and hour markers) and the GReen Bezel insert. |

As has been stated, the differences are the green insert, and maxi-dial and minute hand. Both watches share the same movement, case(marked 16610T), and bracelet. Functionally the LV gives a bit more lume due to the greater surface area if that is important.
As you can see the LV generates strong feelings. I'm a fan of the LV due to the maxi-dial, but that's just me. Certainly because of the fewer numbers the LV is seen much less the the 16610. 1.5K over the standard black seems awfully high though.

I wish the Green Sub had a maxi hour hand, it just seems like it was something that Rolex perhaps overlooked, because I can't otherwise rationalise this omision.

An interesting thing about the "LV" is that the "Maxi Dial" is not "complete" in the sense that the hour markers and the minute hand are larger than normal, BUT the HOUR hand is normal size.
Rolex changed the "Maxi Dial" to have a larger hour hand on the new GMT II.

I think though that the reason Rolex did not enlarge the LV's hour hand, was in keeping with many other dive watches. I see on many other dive watches, and it makes sense, that the Minute hand is much larger in order to easily read elapsed minutes in a dive.
