Finally got my Sub Date Today!
Hi ppl,
After several days of visiting and calling different AD's, finally got my Sub Date today with an AD that offered 12 months interest free payment plan! Also saved on taxes for shipping it out of state. Got it at Lorilil Jewlers in Forrest Hills. Dealt directly with owner and got excellent service. Nice sales staff, excellent experience all around! Woot! |

I know how you feel! I traded my mid-size datejust, white aniversary dial, two tone for a ss sub date, black dial. I am sooooo happy! I join in your watch fever, and relish the moment.....now content with my collection....rolex explorer II, white dial, the new ss sub date, with black dial, an oris complication, white dial; breitling super ocean, black dial(new style with red pointer on sweep hand), and a swiss army divemaster. Yes indeed, happy.

Congrats on one of the pre-eminent watches ever made. Now, just remember that every time you make the equivalent of a car payment for the next 12 months, it will certainly hold the test of time unlike most cars.

Welcome to TRF!
Congrats! You are now the owner of THE iconic Rolex of them all: The SS SUB DATE! Please post pics! Here is MY suggestion how to post pics here: 1) Go to www.photobucket.com and create an account (it's FREE!) 2) Upload the pic to photobucket from your PC 3) When it's uploaded, copy the IMG code (BOTTOM bar under the photo in photobucket - there are four bars, but you'd wanna use the LAST bar - see my arrow on the Print Screen underneath). You copy the IMG code by simply clicking on the bar: 4) You then note that photobucket tells you "copied". 5) Then go to rolexforums and start your post. 6) In your post, press the "Add picture" button and a prompt pops up with http://. Delete that http:// and press CTRL + V (now that address of the photo - the "IMG tag" - is inserted in the prompt you got. 7) Then DELETE the last and first [IMG] to get rid of "IMG" standing before and after your photo when you post it. (not important, but just looks better). Or you can skip # 6 & 7 and just rightclick in your post and choose "paste"...........BINGO your photo will be there as soon as you press Submit reply. IMPORTANT: DO NOT DELETE THE PICTURE FROM PHOTOBUCKET (OR ANY SERVER YOU USE) SINCE DELETING IT THERE WOULD ALSO DELETE IT HERE ON TRF! (RED CROSS INSTEAD OF PIC). That's it!

if i were u , i would look at it the whole day , under strong illumination and a 10x loupe . u will be surprised how beautiful a BRAND NEW direct-from-Geneva Rolex looks like under strong lighting and magnification. Its flawless. the shiny glossy mirror-like finishing is out of this world. I do not think any other watch manufacturers offer this quality of finishing. be sure to check the dial and hands for any tiny microscopic hairline cracks or contaminants ... i have seen a few such cosmetic defects myself , on brand new Rolex , that is...

Nimm12:
AGAIN you're right! Don't less this get a habit, you hear?! But YES, Rolex finish, especially that of the dials is immaculate (really "out of this world", like you say). But you are very right that just on a few occasions, you do spot the tiniest flaws. Not listen to this: On the 6th. of September, my AD phoned me to tell me that the SD had arrived (the one I swopped for the SS Sub Date). He fetched the SD from the backroom and then he told me: "We actually got FOUR SD's in!" "Okay, may I see all four so I can find the nicest one?", I replied. AD: "Why?! They are all 100 % IDENTICAL!" Me: "No, I have often spotted TINY differences in the SAME models, so could I please see them all?" (Actually we also stood there arguing about it! ) Now the interesting part: 1) The FIRST one (the one he had CHOSEN) for me to buy in the first place (before letting me see the other three) was a Z-SERIES. 2) ALL other 3 SD's were: M-SERIES So I guess he wanted me to buy the "old stuff" instead of the NEWEST M-series! Anyway, I actually DID find tiny differences in the dials, finish etc, so I chose the nicest M-series (also serial number-wise the nicest).

Man we are birds of a feather. I bought my 16610 new from Jared in Hurst,TX last month with 12 mo no interest as well. Nothing like it. It has never been sweated on or in, sparkles like jewelry and is just kick ass. Welcome to the show.
