Rolex watches serial number question

Hi, I am new here, I have some question about the Rolex watches serial number. As I see from the serial number engraved between lugs 6 0'clock position and I feel that the engraved number is very light and very easy to polish off. I also see some of the serial number is already gone or incomplete cause by the "insert" scratch the serial number.If the serial number is scratch or become unreadable, is it will effect the watch value? Did the RSC will restore back the number if scratch but still readable? Really appreciate your valuable advice and answer.

I have seen many used watch for sale as they came the serials disappeared after polishing. My DJ did also get scratched, but the serial number itself appears intact. The "Stainless Steel" letters have minor scratches in the top part.

Do you have warranty card and all? Not sure about your last question, but i assume that you will need some kind of proof to show your real warranty, should engraving be hard to read.

This can happen with older models. The end links can rub up against the case in between the lugs and over time wear a portion of the model # off. RSC will not re-engrave the case to my knowledge. As far as value, this is a part of the watch that some would not even inspect. As long as the watch is 100% authenic, I see no problem with this.

I learned my lessons : All these Internet codes are just a approximation when a case/clasp was stamped and not when a watch was made.

So it doesn't matter.

My last question is, if the RSC still can read the scratched serial number, are they able to re-engrave or restore the serial number? I think they did not. I purchase this watch as pre-own 20 years ago when I aged 12 years old. It is an air king 14000 with E000000 serial number, so I did not have the paperwork for it. So far still can maintain -2 seconds a day
