Busy part deux

The past month has been extremely hectic and busy for me, so much so that I had to take my foot on the throttle of on-line life. It started heading in the wrong direction for me, too much work, too many obligations and too little time to unwind. But I managed to visit a new restaurant in my neighbourhood, together with Anne, Kayleigh and her boyfriend. It is called Branco and we enjoyed it very much! Today I went home early because I didn’t feel very well, a sure sign of things going wrong.

A welcome break was the two-day safety course I took with 11 other colleagues this week. The main theme was: how to address colleagues and other personnel in case of unwanted behaviour and situations. And yes, there were the actors and video equipment and we all had to play a role. This is always the part I fear most (I’ve done this before) but it went well. It is a very strange sensation to see yourself on screen and to hear your own voice I tell you. The event was held in a hotel situated in a beautiful nature reserve and we even went on a long walk with a game warden. Boy, do these guys know a lot about nature and preservation! As a final exercise we were divided in two teams and we had to build a scaffold from materials that were provided. But we were NOT allowed to talk during the construction. That proved to be almost impossible but we succeeded.

If all goes according to plan, next week I will buy an iMac and the new AirPort extreme. 2.4 GHz. 20” iMac with 500 GB hard drive and 4 GB RAM. That ought to do it. And after that, the search for essential software starts. We’ll see.

The net can be tiring
Nice Apple, especially the 4 GB Ram wow.
The software part is what I dislike about Apple, everything else is good, airport new version?
Compared to Windows so few programs available.

I just bought the new Nano and the Airport Extreme on Monday.

That brings me to
1 Apple PowerBook G4 17 inch , 1.5 ghz, 1 gb ram.
1 Apple MacBook Pro 15 inch, 2.4 Mhz , 2 Gb ram.

1 Apple iPod Classic 80 Gb
1Apple ipod Nano (the new one)
1. Apple ipod shuffle

It all depends on what you need and there always is BootCamp!

I used to work for a company that was nuts for that stuff. We were spending 2-3 days a month in HR workshops trying to figure out how to walk across a mat without making it beep, and without talking to each other.

I bought the dark gray 8gb Nano and I love it!
No need for it whatsoever, but I could not help myself.

And the Airport Extreme... well... there was nothing wrong with my old airport extreme. But I was able to convince myself that I need the new one.

I read an article on the Iphone saying that there was a hack out so you were not required to use AT&T nor their software?
I'm guessing Bootcamp is an emulator for Mac/Windows, on my home computer I "need" maybe a 100 programs just to be happy

There is a hack and there always will be BootCamp is a program that provides for partitioning and a dual-boot option so you can boot into Windows. Nothing special but well executed.

Ah, back in the days I always tried to install as many OS as possible on one computer but no more

Apple tries to fix the "work arounds" as all companies do, but it amazes me that within a day or so there are people who can crack the security for almost any software/hardware.

I just won an e-scam auction for an Apple 23inch Cinema display, and the seller says that they've changed their mind they want to keep the display for themselves
I didn't think they could do that. I thought once the auction was over it was a legally binding contract.

I think I have a copy of System Commander on floppy somewhere, back in the days when running OS/2, NextSTEP, DOS (several flavours) and Win3/95,NT.

In the real world it would not be worth enforcing. Such a case would be a civil matter and there are limits to how much of your legal costs could be sought from the plaintiff.

Best to let it pass. I once won a AP Millenary 18ct for £2,000, half of its market price from an Ebay powerseller. The seller obviously didn't expect such a low final bid and adopted the ever-so-grown-up tactic of ignoring all forms of communication including third party messages.

He then emails me as "his dad" saying that he was ill. Yet new watches are listed, and sold. He ignored me for the next 3 weeks.

I almost got to the point of such spite and venom that I would have turned up on his doorstep with bad intentions (400+ miles away) or suing him and forcing him to employ an expensive barrister, spending ££££££ just to cost him £££££.

I came back from the edge at the last moment and refrained from doing either, deciding just to let it go, life's too short.

The article is full of non sense. The figures about the pricing are just silly. The phone itself is 189 euro but with a two year subscription and shipping 885 euro. Allong with other things, the article goes on, that works out to 1250 US$, much less what is paid in the US The supplier is a cowboy and the phones WILL be bricked. And then what? Will he supply another one for free? I'll wait untill all 1.0 release problems are fixed and good deals can be made with the likes of Telfort, Orange and T-Mobile.
