Assistance with a Submariner 16610 M Serial
I am looking at buying a Submariner 16610 with a M serial number from an online retailer (which has been discussed in various threads on TRF). My question is this:
On most of the Subs I have seen and on all of the M series Subs, below the 6 it reads "SWISS MADE", on the piece i am looking at it reads "SWISS-T<25". Should I be concerned? I appreciate your help. Forgive me if this is a ridiculous question. I am new to TRF. Thanks. |

You're not looking at an M serial if it has T < 25 on the dial (Which indicates tritium, used in the lume for the markers and hands). M serials were super luminova, which I believe Rolex began using in the late 90's / early 2000s (historians correct me if I'm wrong here). The watch may be genuine, but it's probably not an M serial.

Thanks for the response. The seller claims the watch is an M serial c.2007, but based on the above post and link that seems to be unlikely.

M serial in fact had the Swiss Made dial. Unless some changed it and had some pretty good documentation I'd be very skeptical of that watch.

I'd recommend that you buy from one of the trusted TRF sellers. Check the Who's Who section. Good luck!

It's either redialed, recased, or fake. None of the three would be acceptable to me. Look elsewhere.
