First Rolex, DJ w/ Silver Dial
My first Rolex was delivered today, a pre-owned DJ with a silver dial. I could not be happier with it, and thanks to all for the helpful advice (will post pics soon, it is being fitted now).
The papers are in French, and indicate that the watch was originally purchased at an AD in Germany, and the papers have the AD's stamp and signature. Interestly, the place for the "Name and address of the Buyer" ("Nom et adresse de l'acheteur") is blank. I this unusual or meaningful? I have no doubt that everything is in order. This is pure idle curosity from someone whose new toy is being fitted overnight, and only has the papers to look at right now. |

A good start with a Rolex.
Soon you will yearn for another. The blank paper is a big plus. I'd leave it blank. Congrats. |

Please forgive my newbie question here, but why is it desirable to keep the papers open?

I think its because of when you go to resell it... The question is do AD's give you the option? is there ever an issue if you have it serviced/registered with rolex?

Great looking Datejust! Is that dial color Silver or Champagne? It looks more like the latter in the first pic and more like Silver on your wrist. Thanks. John |

Great choice -- my favorite Datejust! I'm trying to decide between your 116234 and a simpler 116200 with smooth bezel and Oyster bracelet. Yours is more expensive with the White Gold but the look hearkens back to some of the beautiful Datejusts of old.

Thank you John. Yes, I think that it has a bit of an old school look, which I like. I too went back and forth between a smooth and fluted bezel during my hunt. In the end, I decided that l like the DJ with the fluted bezel best, and will eventually add an Air King with a smooth bezel to the collection.

soho,
Do you know what vintage/year your watch is? I'm not a Datejust expert by any means but I do know the case and lug designs have changed quite a bit (thicker now, yours look trimmer). John |

John - it has a T serial number, which I believe means 1995-1997.
