THE grail watch

i read every day that some lucky WIS is getting his or her "grail watch" but surely a grail should be the one we aspire to....the unobtainable?

Nice watch but yes watch vs SUV. What do you think will lose its value more?? With that said public transportation is the option to go with and get the watch!

Get the watch. My friends think I'm crazy because I'll spend thousands on a Rolex but refuse to pay more that $10,000-$12,000 for a car. And then I will only buy a used car.

I don't understand why someone would want to think about an unobtainable watch.

Because some people like to have something to strive for, no matter how unobtainable it is.

I think that's the neat thing about watches - everyone has a different meaning of "grail." For most people a plain DJ would be their grail, for others it would be some crazy Patek Philippe Tourbillion. I'm saving toward my first Rolex, and it will be the same model I tried on when I wondered into a jewelry store at 12 years old: A black Explorer II. Unconventional, yes, but it's the watch I've always wanted and therefore my "grail."

A grail watch for me is something that is currently unobtainable but is within my reach. I may wistfully look at PP minute repeaters etc, but I can't see them ever being within my reach unless I win the lottery, and hence those types of watches aren't on my grail list.
