hi guys,thinking of getting a rolex sub.choosing between a steel and half gold model.any advise?

1/2 gold is TT (two tone)....

SS is more versitle for an everyday watch, but if you wera gold everyday TT won't be a problem....

Enjoy the watch, either way

I've never really been a fan of TT, but it really is one of the most "personal preference" characteristics of a watch. Try them both on for an extended amount of time in the store... after a while you'll know which one looks better on you.

I prefer TT because I have a yellow gold wedding band. If I had a white gold band, I'd choose the SS sub.

I didn't like the TT at first. But I've seen a few guys wear it well. Def looks a bit dressier than the SS.

Either a GMT or Sub SS, it is a classic look! try both on and see which one you like the best.

Both beautiful classic watches. I've currently got an SS 16610, and planning to add a TT blue 16613 at some point in the future. But if I only had one Sub, it would be an all steel one. Good luck with your decision!

I'm a fan of tt, but stainless is a near perfect material for watches. My first Rolex was a tt GMT on a jubilee (38 years ago), and I'm still impressed with how sharp it looks. I gave it to a son a few years ago and now have a stainless Sub and some others. If you want a touch of gold, I really like the gold with black dial and black bezel, though I prefer the jubilee over the PCL oyster.

The GMT in stainless with the PCL oyster does offer a bit more bling than the all brushed Sub look. Any of these versions offers the toughness and 50+ life of a Rolex.

This forum is 90 percent SS owners so it is kind of biased. The best part of TT is that the bracelet provides more visual pleasure than the SS. Bad part is you have to be more careful because gold scratches easily.

IMO, TT seems more dressy while SS seems more versatile....dressed up or dressed down...

That being said, SS for the first gets my vote!

BUT, as mentioned above, buy the one that makes you smile...

Both are awesome. SS is classic and wears well with everything. TT looks great with quite a few things and attracts alot of attention.

I personally love stainless steel or platinum...not a gold fan....BUT that TT blue Sub will likely be my next watch. However, I'd like to change that band to stainless if possible. It totally depends on your preferences.
