1976 "Race" Through Paris

After reading a lot of the new car threads and on the eve of picking up my own P-car, I thought some of you car men and women might like this video. A lot of you probably have already seen it, but some may not have yet.

Never seen it. That car soundtrack has got to be added, it doesn't even look that fast, the low camera angle gives it an illusion it's faster than it is.

Do we know what car it is?

Car used for filming was a Mercedes Benz 450 SEL 6.9, sound is from a V12 Ferrari, probably the 275 GTB. (What I could gather)

I was bummed the sound was edited, but still an amazing film.

The MBZ was purportedly a 450SEL 6.9L model. More info about the film here:

I saw this in a magnificent old palace type theatre in 1978 before a revival showing of Goldfinger. The effect of the low mounted camera and screaming V-12 sound on an enormous screen made for a white knuckle experience. But it's the final moments that are trademark Lelouch and make it more than just another fast ride film. One of the last of the French new wave directors who is still working.

I did see this one time before, I think the sound was muted then but I enjoyed the sound of the V12.

Looks and sounds good even if it is a bit contrived it`s still enjoyable, and it reminds me of my last trip to the top of Montmartre.

Greatest Short-Movie ever .
Got it on DVD... Probably time to watch it again on the Big-Screen :)
