New Yachtmaster

Hi Everyone-

Long time lurker, first time poster.

My wife just gave me the 16622 that I've been dropping hints about for the last two years. She bought it from Capetown, said they were great to deal with.

Question-

Need to get it sized. The closest jeweler is actually the local AD. Will they give me a hard time/ be able to tell where she bought it?

Thanks-

Mike

Maybe, just tell them it was a gift and offer to compensate them for it.
Or go to lowes and buy a 1/16 flat head, bought a set of small screw drivers for $15 or so.
Very easy to do yourself.
Congrats on the YM, post some pics!

Agreed, tell the AD it was a gift and ask them how much to size it and pressure test it (especially if there is any chance of pool, ocean, shower)

Enjoy that watch

Sounds good. That's what I did when I got my explorer in '07. Back then I didn't know what an AD was..... I do remember thinking they didn't seem all that eager to help.

Should they pressure test for free? There's a 100% chance of pool, ocean, shower etc...

Thanks guys.

Please don;t expect them to do anything for free, you did not buy the watch there.

Like I said, ask "how much to pressure test and size".....them pay the man-

After I purchased my YM from a non-AD jeweler, the local AD charged $30 to authenticate the watch which included a pressure test and to time the watch +/- seconds/day. My guess is they would have sized the bracelet if I asked as part of the $30 fee.

I don't understand why people are always afraid to go get a watch sized at an AD. Just walkin and tell them what you want them to do. While your waiting have another salesmen pull watches out of the display case that you haveno intention of buying because you can buy it on TRF for half the price. Make them work for you it's there job wether you are buying or not.

I just got my yachtmaster II and im so pleased with it. I use to only express much intrest with Daytona's but i think i am liking the yachtmaster a little more at this pint, although they are both excellent watches

That's how I'll do it. Thx. Will post pics tomorrow. Out in Vegas for the week. Got sucked into the Rolex store at the mirage. I think the 18K Blue sub is next.... Will take another 5 years of asking. She controls the mony for obvious reasons......
