Rolex AD Problem

A few weeks ago my Rolex AD offered me a nice discount on my choice of the SubC, Exp2 42mm, or DSSD. I purchased 2 Rolex from her and referred 4 other sales for her so she was taking good care of me on the price. I couldn't decide which one I wanted.

Fast forward to today....when I heard about the price increase... I called her up and said I'll take the SubC before tomorrow's price increase. Her response was what increase???? A few minutes later a FedEx packaged arrived at her store with the new Rolex prices.

She called me back and said we can still offer you the same discount, however, we're going to have to charge you tomorrow's increased price since we have to replace the watch at a higher cost.

Does she think I am an idiot???? This is a situation of the pure greed in this industry. I lost my mind on her and I am ready to report her to Rolex USA but I may reconsider....

What would you do???

Frankly yes, I believe they think we are all idiots and we are enabling them.

What would I do? At this moment I do not know, i was all set to buy a Rolex in the next few weeks, now I am not longer sure.

Why did you tell her about an increase?
You should have just called and bought the SubC!

X2! Don't tell them what they don't need to know!

I would ask her how much is it going to cost them to replace a customer like you, specially after you bad-mouth them on the forum for being tricky?

Plus, as she said, that's tomorrow's price!

They probably aren't making that much after they take care of you. Probably nothing after paying increased prices. IMHO this is you problem for waiting. Not theirs. Maybe not what you want to hear but it's the truth. Don't always show your hand. I don't think they can charge more than msrp but they also don't have to discount for you.

He made me an offer a few weeks ago but I hope he doesn't charge me the increase!! He Facebook messaged me today but didn't mention anything zbout price change so I won't mention it to him just in case ! Really worried this price increase is sickening

Do they have the watch in stock ? If they have to order it for you then they should raise the price.

No, they have it in stock, right in their display case. I just gave them another chance to make ammends and they reconfirmed that the discount will be taken off of TOMORROW's price. I am calling Rolex in NYC.

Dude, fu*k them. They did you dirty after being a great customer. I would walk and make damn sure to tell the sales lady why.

Seconds to lose a customer, months to find another good one.

Post the AD's business name & location so that people who desire decent customer service & not being treated like crap avoid that one. I'd never do business with them again. There are plenty of places to score Rolexes.

Spoke with Steve at Rolex in New York City, he said the MSRP is a suggested retail price and dealers are allowed to sell the watches at "whatever they feel the watch is worth", including prices above MSRP." Those were his exact words. He said if a dealer wants to charge a higher MSRP today, then there is no mechanism preventing them from doing such. He used the Daytona as an example, he said AD's regularly sell them above MSRP. It's good to know that Rolex cares about how their customer's are being treated.

Why didn't you lock down the sale with a credit card on the phone right away?

Yes, you are exactly right. And I even had the sales person speak with the owner who was actually the person who came up with this brilliant idea of charging tomorrow's MSRP today.

I've already called Rolex in NYC and they could give a $(@) less. See above post. They can all go scratch now.

They should give it to you at the old price, but it there call. Rolex Company will not help you out, its strictly business. I hope you learned your lesson not to open your big mouth.

That wasn't an option. I said that I wanted to buy it before tomorrow's price increase....not thinking for a minute that they would pull this type of behavior. I think it's disguisting.

it has nothing to do with opening his big mouth...in any case, the sales rep would have found out about the price increase since the fedex box came with the new prices...

rather its about basic principles...selling an item today for a future value is absurd..and like ppl have said- pure greedd.

I don't operate that way, I believe in being up front with people. I thought I had a good enough relationship with this AD that they wouldn't be so greedy. I guess I misjudged their character and it's better that I know this now so they can never make another penny off of me again.

I have to agree with this. Not two hours ago I purchased from an AD to avoid the increase. I got 10% off of today's price. Not tomorrow's.

This is a load of crap. They certainly get mad at ADs when they give discounts and sell BELOW the MSRP. If this is the suggested price then why do they give dealers such a hard time when they discount?

its rolex themselves want to make as much profit as possible and at the same time keep their ADs happy by allowing them to make as much profit as well due to their tight dealer margins. in the end, it all comes down to money.
