Rolex forgot to include the warranty?

Hey guys,

A few weeks ago, I bought a brand new Explorer I from this AD in NJ. The AD said that the watch didn't come with the warranty, and that sometimes "Rolex forgets to include them with their watches sometimes." They then said that I should get one the following week. No warranty as of yet.

Does this stuff happens sometimes, and it's nothing to worry about? I just wanted to ask since I'm new when it comes to Rolex watches.

Thanks.

Which Ad in Paramus? It could happen. I would call them up and ask what the delay was. The RSC in NYC replaces the warranty card but only to the original selling AD.

The warranty card is always included and most AD's will follow Rolex protocol and not let you leave without filling it out with the date of sale.

It's possbile you got a watch that had been returned/exchanged. When an AD has a watch returned/exchanged they have to submit to Rolex for a new warranty card (since the original is already dated) so they can resell the watch and provide the buyer with a fresh warranty.

The watch isn't really the issue here, it's the story being told by the AD. As a rule, Rolex doesn't make mistakes!

The warranty should always be with the watch at point of sale at an AD.

Walk away.

I would not have made the purchase on a NEW watch without everything being included, unless there was a substantial discount involved.

It could be a returned watch if it didn't have its stickers. The AD might just be waiting for a replacement warranty card.

unlikely, in most cases rolex have to see the watch in order to supply a new warranty card.

sounds very suspicious to me.

This is the most likely situation.

This doesn't sound right to me.

I would seek further clarification from the AD.

Maybe Chris/The GMT Master could chime in?

Smells fishy I would call the AD potentially return it, and get another one...doesn't sound like they were honest with you

This also would not be acceptable to me... I would not have made the initial purchase however now that you have I would NOT call the AD. Rather, I would go in person, grab everything you received with the purchase and request a refund.

rolex don't supply new warranty cards just like that unless the return is a very quick one. in the vast majority of cases, the AD must send the watch in for rolex to inspect, ensuring the watch is still in a fit state to sell "as new". sometimes, a refurbishment may be needed in order for rolex to supply a new card.

i would follow MorgageGuy's advice, or call rolex to discuss the situation.

Not sure which AD you went to in NJ...I've always gone to Hamilton in Princeton and I've never had these issues with any of the Rolexes I've purchased or ones that my friends have gotten from them...

Hamilton Jewelers in Princeton is terrific! I bought several watches there as well! Extremely professional. One watch purchase took months to get everything they promised to me but I did get everything negotiated. This watch was a used one however.

I purchased my Sub from Mayors. Since the frequently move watches from one AD to another, at a customer request, the warrantee cards are kept at their headquarters. This way warrantee cards are not left behind.

I received the warrantee card and wallet and two appraisals in the mail within five days.

Mayors mailed the warranty cards about two or three weeks later for my wife and sister in law.

Thanks for the replies so far.

Don't know if this means anything, but when I got the watch, it had all the protective stickers on it. Also, I remember asking if this particular watch had any issues after realizing there was no warranty for it, and the lady manager said no and that they wouldn't sell it to me if it did.

Someone in this thread asked which AD it is. The AD is Ross Simons in Paramus, NJ. I just called them earlier today and asked about the warranty. The lady said that it should be there any day now.

I don't know, but is there a Rolex USA number I can call and ask some questions about my watch and/or warranty?

Some on here have you worrying unnecessarily. As Tom posted above it will soon come in the mail. I have purchased many Rolex watches and most of the time the warranty has been sent to me in the mail. It's rediculous that you are being advised to return the watch so on and so forth.

In my experience, it comes in the mail a couple weeks after you buy it and it will be completed with the actual date of purchase.

Some AD's do this in case you decide to return it, they don't have to go and get a new warranty card from Rolex

I've never purchased any new Rolex without having the warranty card with the watch and filled out right there and then.

Never had one mailed but it seems to be a practice of some AD's.

When it comes to threads like these, it always seems that the moderator/patron with the rotating gears avatar usually has the most refined and accurate responses. (just saying).

Relax no need to worry as long as you get the warranty card. No big deal! Since you have bought it from an AD.

Interesting practice in the US. Here in Australia, when a Rolex is sold, everything comes with it, warranty card too. When I bought mine, I also had to sign a statement saying that I've inspected the watch, that everything has been included, and also that all sales are final and no returns are accepted.

Mayors and Reeds Stores Mail the Card in about 2-3 weeks direct from Rolex Registered Mail. This is normal, nothing sinister. I have bought at least 5 new ones in the past years like this.
