Wedding Gift Explorer 39mm or DJ 36 SS
Good morning TRF! Advice needed for a daily wearer. I have tried both on and having trouble pulling the trigger. Regarding the DJ I like the stick dail however cant decide on the dail white, black, or blue. The explorer is beautiful! This will be my wedding gift. In my profession I wear suits to work and weekend mostly T-shirts and shorts kind guy. Thanks for your help TRF and have a blessed day!

The DJ is a bit more dressier & may work a little better since you mentioned you wear suits to work assuming you're going to wear your DJ regularly. However, that's not to say the explorer doesn't look good with a suit, because it goes. Ultimately you have to decide which one you are more happy with, or else just get both!

Personally, I'd opt for the DJ.

I'm a fan of DJ's, but the 39mm Exp is a great choice. The DJ will give you lots of dial/bracelet options, but the I think the 39mm watch is a perfect dress/sport size. I've always thought Rolex made a mistake when they picked 41mm for the DJII, rather than 38-39mm.
Once you have decided on all stainless for your Rolex, the Exp becomes a very sharp option. One reason to consider a DJ is the huge number in the pre-owned market, but if you aren't looking for used, it doesn't matter. |

The 36DJ is as classic as the Explorer. Both good choices but I would go DJ.

Tough call
or I personally like the silver dial best on the DJ, it is so elegant and a great everyday piece. Has the date as well which does come in handy at times. |

DJ - but maybe the DJII
I just swapped my Exp b/c it had no date, and the hands were hard to read in many light situations. I also thought, although call it classic, the hands were too short on the EXP for the 39mm case. If I was making the decision - smooth bezel DJII coming out this fall (or Subc date :-) |

DJ is a fine choice. If you think you'll get a sports model at some point, consider the silver dial (like Patrick's above) or the blue, IMHO.
A fluted bezel with super jubilee is also a very classic choice, but a bit dressier. Good luck and congrats! |

A SS datejust w/ the domed bezel, oyster bracelet, white or silver dial, stick markers
would work for all occasions.

X2 definitely go with date just for your first. If it end up being your only it's a watch for all occasions if not its a great piece to build a collection around

Plan ahead. This is an important watch as it will be your wedding gift, but it probably won't be your last Rolex.
Personally I would go with the DJ now. It's perfect for wearing with a suit and has has a date which is useful in the office. It is also fine with jeans at the weekend. Later you may want a sports watch for casual wear, and consider for example an Exp II or a Sub. |

Ok fellas...went back to the rolex AD to make the purchase the DJ white 36 ss smooth bezel. Then the AD informs me he recieved this piece on Friday the ND sub 14060M and shows it to me!! He said this would be a great purchase as well for your only rolex and wedding present. So , I try it on and it's just as beautiful as the DJ . PLEASE HELP TRF!!! Which one would you gentlemen purchase the ND or DJ. He is holding the two pieces until Monday.

ha. tough choice....but actually easy. do you need the date or not?
if you do, clearly DJ. if you don't, explorer. now, if you are completely indifferent to the date function, you still have a problem.
